  • The Elon Musk and Twitter deal is in danger, again

We all wonder what’s next for Musk. Maybe a turn of events he’s pronounced he wants to called Elana and turned into a full transformer!!! nothing would shock me with this lunatic.
What's next is Musk widens his lead as the richest human in the world, with Gates now #5, behind an Indian Industrialist.  And to think, our former US President is #343, and likely much more of a lunatic.

  • Apple reportedly agrees to TSMC chip price hike

Maybe earlier speculation on refusal of price hike was wrong (like lots of other Apple-related "news").

TSMC (TSM) likely provided data that price hike was justified.  Switching to Samsung would have set back development.
Out five years, others are planning 2nm and 1.4nm processes.

Gas is about $3.25-3.65 in Ohio, up due to a refinery fire last month.
High gas prices are hastening the switch over to electric.
Ohio has also developed a lot of renewable energy, one of the reasons Intel is planning 7 chip fabs in Ohio.
I'm running on Ohio river area hydroelectric at a rate 75% that of natural gas (and far less than coal).

  • HyperJuice GaN chargers recalled over fire hazard

Other sources indicate the 130 watt battery pack has also been recalled for fire hazard issues.  I'd be a bit more worried about the battery packs than the chargers.  Will it be a (very) hot time in the old town tonight?

  • The iPhone 14 is the most repairable iPhone in years

Next thing that needs to change:  Printer manufacturers need to drop the annoying messages when owners choose to use a third party inkjet cartridge.  "You did not install a genuine cartridge."  "This may damage your printer and invalidate your warranty."  "Continue with current cartridge?" (With responses after each warning.  Alternative, market cartridges without the outlandish markups.)

Maybe, if I'm lucky, when I'm due to replace my iPhone, I'll be able to replace the battery in that future model without any tools (or maybe a simple, common home tool).  Like we could do with some of the old flip phones.  Would like to see that on some future mac laptop as well.  (But not holding my breath.)

But in the end, just back everything up, people! you'll save THOUSANDS by never needing to use DriveSavers. They'll tell you the same thing.

I don't backup anymore. I have all my relevant data in iCloud. Hopefully Apple doesn't screw up.
Are you serious – I am quite sure that Apple is not liable for data loss that occurs in iCloud. Second I would never store any private data in any cloud.
Wonder if Google lost any data in their recent mishaps about a week ago.  Two separate(?) issues, one was a data center fire, second was a flash-over arc at a panel with injuries.  Hope Google (and other cloud providers) have mirrored backup facilities, separated by wide distances (hundreds or thousands of miles), since these sites could be major targets in the future for those wishing to disrupt US businesses.
