Berkshire Hathaway unloaded more than half of its Apple stock last quarter
SurvivingNotThriving said:Warren Buffett & Berkshire Hathaway should be ashamed of themselves. A contractor, covered by Berkshire Hathaway, damaged my home. According to the Berkshire Hathaway claims inspector, $57k worth of visible damages to my 1200 sq.ft. home. The itemized estimate of all damages such as scratched kitchen cabinets, broken/cracked granite kitchen countertop, leaking plumbing that the contractor hooked up causing water damage, etc. Berkshire Hathaway only offered a payout for damages of of $7k (cost to replace granite for my kitchen alone is $4k) $7k?? It's laughable and disgusting and disheartening. Berkshire Hathaway covered this contractor who did the damage.
No one can imagine the enormous stress of trying to deal with the damage to our home. This has taken a toll on our well-being, our physical as well as mental health. We are surviving rather than thriving.
My son has a hard time staying focused on his studies as we stress daily 24/7 just trying to manage. Most people would say by the damage the contractor did to just tear the house down. Yeah, easier said then done since the contractor took my savings and my account isn't lined in gold.
I've called and called and the adjuster at Berkshire Hathaway and left many messages. I still have not received a return call. I emailed Berkshire Hathaway and no response. What kind of bologna is that? And that in itself exhasorbates the stress we feel.
Great job Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway! You must be very proud!
While Warren Buffett makes money off the stock market, I feel he's needs to look into this. But will he? No he won't! Why you ask? Because Berkshire Hathaway's 2023 revenue of $364.5 billion dollars. Talk getting rich off the poor!
Message to Warren Buffett
A home is supposed to be a sanctuary for family and friends and a peace of mind. Please kindly have the adjusters return my calls? I pretty sure with $3 billion in revenue the adjusters have telephones and email.
Sincerely,
Surviving not thriving in Indiana.

House passes bill saying ByteDance must sell or spin off TikTok or face a ban
In a similar measure, some US made apps and software are banned (or in the process of being banned) in China and certain other countries. China and Russia want use of Windows phased-out, starting with government departments and government owned enterprises. China and Russia are likely not keen on use of Dell, HP, Apple, Cisco and other US controlled hardware. -
Apple's removable battery standard could change device charging forever
Apple and Microsoft should cross-license their inventions. Better yet, they should form a joint venture Apple-Soft.
Microsoft has a new solid state lithium-sodium battery that drastically reduces need for lithium.
Combine patent in this article with the lithium-sodium battery, and they can corner the battery market.
Bye-bye Duracell, Rayovac, Panasonic, LG, Tesla, Johnson Controls... -
Damaged Apple Vision Pro repairs cost up to $2,399
In the past, buying all the parts of an automobile, rather than the assembled auto, has been estimated to cost at least 10x the cost of the assembled car. Plus the cost of paying for assembly. Wonder if extended warranty will be discounted in the future, as an incentive, once supply exceeds demand?
My experience with 3rd party insurers has been they frequently go bankrupt, and often have major exclusions on what they cover. Historically, this has often been true of firms that insure automobiles. If the firm goes bankrupt, the policy is not worth the paper on which it is printed. Sometimes, there are limits on payments from the policy, and you may be limited in which firms will accept the insurance (or which repair firms the insurance company will accept). You may be limited by what the insurance firm considers the fair market value of the device. For automobiles, frequent exclusions include batteries, tires, brakes and other wear items. -
Apple's stripping out blood oxygen sensing from Apple Watch enough to skirt import ban
The countersuit by Apple against Masimo W1 watches should have been expected, and may ultimately cost Masimo more than they gain from any licensing of the (so far) remaining valid patents. Guess it was quicker for Apple to disable the allegedly infringing process. Wonder if given more time, Apple can implement a software method that is independent of the (so far) remaining patents. Maybe Masimo will end up cross-licensing patents with Apple to prevent action against Masimo W1 watches. Cross-licensing usually does not involve much money changing hands. Apple claims Masimo copied design and functionality of Apple watches with the Masimo W1. This back and forth could go on for a long time, possibly making lawyers a tidy sum.
