    Stunningly, with lPod Touch, Joni did it again !!
    Pairing the utmost in design and dedication, he completely redesigned iPodTouch into the bezel-less rectangle design with an optimal, modern 5.5” screen size.
    Loosely but courageously playing with its original lines, it took audacity and a firm stance towards lamentation - as sitting on his laurels could have been temptative with the decade old award-winning, classical design statement. 
    However, he resisted that and went into stunning detail: Every individual molecule not only became carefully reassessed but also meticulously redimensioned. Every atom got retrofitted and recommitted towards its inner essence, and evaluated in its main aim: to contribute to the overall concept‘s style and elegance. 

    Except that it didn’t happen: the project got killed by Tim the Clerk who decided the 10 year old design could be milked out further onto the extreme

    Maybe in terms of appstore volume - at cost of quality. iOS apps are fundamentally different from what Mac users expect (UI-elements, gestures, handling, interface, precision) as Apple concedes itself: “Apple notes that "iOS conventions such as swipe to delete, action sheet commands, and controls at the bottom of the screen are optimized for touch interactions on a handheld device," in contrast to "macOS conventions such as dedicated keys and keyboard shortcuts, menu commands, and controls at the top of the window are optimized for keyboard, mouse, and trackpad interactions and a separate display." This will lead to a slew of apps that feel alienated on the Mac, unless redesigned from the ground up (this message itself proves what happens to readability when linefeeds can’t be inserted from an iPad while from a Mac it can...)

    The main reason to solder chips rather than socket them is the increase in reliability.  Each contact in a socket adds a potential point of failure in the future.
    Same for car wheels & bolts. Try to be reasonal.

    If you’re expecting them to change it for change’s sake, or to alleviate your boredom, you’ll always be disappointed with Apple. 
    Then why the modern smallbezel iPad design - an error or exception of the Rule ?
