The analysts have brought it upon themselves. All their crystal ball gazing and their supply chain predictions of what they think Apple should be selling.
Bottomline is sales and profits.

HomePod is part of the "Other" category just like Apple Watch so you will never get exact sales figures. 

Very early days for HomePod. It'll see a slow and steady rise, and then Apple will revise it to the next level and it'll take off.  It's not like Apple don't know what they could do with it, they just prefer to do it step by step.  The Ox is Slow but the Earth Apple is Patient. 

Would Portal Communications, or anyone else, really know the actual systems/processes that Siri uses to do its natural language analysis? Isn't this hidden on the device and off-site servers? Plus there would be more than one way to do this.
