It's not for me, but this year's model actually looks like a real product compared to last year's "protoype" model.

Agreed, but I don't think there's any way in **** the screen looks that perfect and flat at the fold.
Definitely not. Those images were based on mock-ups someone used to place them side by side.

The new one uses glass, not the plastic used in the display on last year's model. So while it might be better, it still has a visual fold between the two sides that will be apparent depending on how the light hits it and the content on the display.

  • Compared: Google Pixel 4a vs iPhone SE

The $349 Pixel 4a 128GB has a clean version of Android (latest updates and support), better battery life, a better display and a better camera. Despite the lower price, it also has double the storage of the entry iPhone SE. It really nails down the basics while offering an excellent camera experience. However, it's not a premium phone and that's the point.

The iPhone SE does have an excellent SoC and I would assume many years of updates, but that's really its only redeeming feature. The dated camera, small battery and 4.7" display take away from the experience. Although an entry iPhone 12 will cost more (expected $649 for 128GB), from what we know, it will be a far better iPhone experience - much more in line with what we've come to expect since the iPhone X was released.

  • Nvidia is reportedly in 'advanced talks' to acquire Arm Holdings

Nvidia acquiring ARM is a bad idea. Too many companies that rely on ARM IP could potentially get screwed by this acquisition if it goes through.

nVIDIA already has an ARM license, so I'm not sure what good owning the company would actually do other than a new revenue source. Oh, and of course enabling them shove their GPU designs down everyone's throats, like Intel does.
Pushing their GPU tech with ARM designs - Mali is lacking and it would give NVIDIA a chance to have a much wider market.

ARM IP, Mellanox IP and NVIDIA IP all under one roof. That also sounds like a pretty a strong combination for the server market.
Question is, is what about the wider market that licenses ARM IP? Will Nvidia good steward of that patent portfolio? I'm not convinced which is why I think a consortium owning it would be a wiser move.
Don't get me wrong, I couldn't say how NVIDIA would handle this. A consortium could very well be a better option for a more even playing field.

My comment was addressing why NVIDIA would even want them in the first place and what sort of impact that could have on their business.

  • Microsoft shutting down Cortana app on iPhone and iPad in 2021

That includes changes made to Microsoft's digital assistant that repurpose it to become part of the company's broader suite of Microsoft 365 products. In other words, it will no longer be a Siri or Alexa competitor.

This makes sense given the way their software/services are typically used.

No mention of Google Assistant as a competitor?
