The blood oxygen and pulse meters and EKG aren't cleared for "medical" use, but they're good enough to be truly useful, as hundreds of news articles have proven over the years. 

If I'd had a watch that diagnosed my sleep apnoea twenty years earlier, the quality of my life would have been radically different. Millions of people are going to have a device that can do this, en passant, and it will be literally life-changing to many, many people. 

Yes. It's amazing how much a basic diagnosis can be useful, even though the measurement data is not particularly accurate. If the error is always the same amount (or the same percentage) then the trend will still be visible and that can lead to meaningful benefits in a lot of cases. Get the rough outline right, then polish.

Once again: it is possible to install your own software on your own phone without paying Apple any money. You sign up for the free tier of Apple's Developer program, use the free Xcode IDE to write your app, digitally sign it and install it on your phone. There are restrictions: you have to reinstall the app every seven days and you cannot submit it to the app store to share it with other people. But there is nothing to stop you from sharing the source code and other app resources and allowing others to compile and sign the app themselves.

Sigh. All these marketing people want to link product names whenever a company integrates a separate technology into a new or existing product. "We have to tell people; if we don't tell them every time we mention the product, they won't know! And this way we can count mentions of the integrated stuff and claim it has a large impact. And AI is super hot right now so we have to reinforce our brand."

All it ends up being is a mouthful of ridiculous phrases that diffuses the identity of the product they want you to buy. I don't buy a "Ford Ranger with Diesel" or a "Ford Ranger with Petrol" - I buy a "Ford Ranger" and know that it comes in different versions. I don't want an "Assistant with Bard", I want an assistant so I check out all the capabilities - oh, the latest version comes with new AI features? OK, cool.

Some of these people need to learn that you don't tell, you show. Wait for the human brain's association process to kick in - we learn things one at a time and associate the new thing with what we already know. Naming things is hard, but keep it simple and you'll get better results.

"Slightly cheaper than an iPhone and almost as good! ... hey, it worked for Windows PCs in the 90s..."

Yet another analysis based on the faulty idea that Apple is a cyclical company that needs hit after hit to generate growth. No recognition of subscription revenue or the trend of recurring sales that grow the ecosystem or the room for growth in countries outside the US.
