  • Apple's market share grows as global smartphone sales hit new low

"There's been a decoupling between what's happening in the economy and consumers buying phones," Jeff Fieldhack, Research Director for North America said in a statement.

That statement is a load of garbage. What's been happening in the economy is very much driving phone purchasing behaviour; the divergence is between corporate expectations of a steadily (albeit slowly) growing market and the observed behaviour of consumers proving that the growth phase is over.

It's also interesting that this person believes the majority of iPhone upgrades are happening on a three-year cycle. This seems to be tied to the leasing agreement lengths; ten years ago I was paying off the device over 24 months but when I bought my iPhone 11 Pro the lease option was for 36 months because the device was comparatively much more expensive.

  • Wedbush says it's 'when not if' Apple will buy ESPN

I may be commenting using bad knowledge.

ESPN is a channel that doesn’t own any sports league or teams itself.

it likely has a small portfolio of broadcasting rights arrangements primarily cantered on the US.

Why would anyone acquire such an entity instead of just outbidding the exclusives they have whenever they come up for renewal?

In football there are developments where the sports teams themselves go into broadcasting with Real Madrid TV being a great example serving a global audience. There is an app for that and Apple can just sell a season pass and be the go to market aggregator.

No need to buy ESPN. Waste of cash
Exactly this. Apple does not buy the middleman, Apple becomes the middle man.

  • A cheap Bluetooth transmitter can spoof some iPhone notifications

Walking around a conference dedicated to hacking devices and software typically means seeing all sorts of real world attacks, albeit in a specialized setting. And as some attendees discovered this year, it can also mean personal data is potentially up for grabs at any given moment.

Given the nature of surveillance capitalism, you don't have to be attending a hacker conference for your personal data to be obtained without your knowledge by a nefarious adversary - it's already happened.

  • Apple TV+ reveals 'The Buccaneers' to stream from November

    entropys said:
When I saw "The Buccaneers" I got all excited thinking it was going to be a pirate movie full of daring do, sea battles full of broadsides sword fights and falling rigging, and instead find out it is a Bridgerton knockoff, but with yank accents.

Actually, considering it is based on an unfinished novel, probably more like a "Sanditon " knockoff.
At least it wasn't about corn merchants.

  • Court sides with Apple in Bluetooth pairing patent lawsuit

The practical effect is the same, but because the implementation differs from the patent description there is no violation.

I guess it keeps those lawyers from chasing ambulances.
