Senators Elizabeth Warren & Sherrod Brown push for Apple Card probe by CFPB
crowley said:airnerd said:Supposedly there is a stat that charges more interest for some females than males, and Congress gets involved because that's discriminatory. Meanwhile since the invention of auto insurance 16 year old boys are charged more than 16 year old girls because stats show there is a reason...and that's acceptable.
16 year old boys crash cars more often.
Where’s the stat that says women are worse at paying off credit cards? Not in my house. Marrying my wife is the best financial decision I ever made.(and I am so grateful to her for that... and I love her for other reasons, too, like her smile, the way she makes me feel when I see her, the way she holds my hand, ...) -

Photos claim to show 'AirPods Pro' charging case
GeorgeBMac said:I hope that Apple does come out with 2 versions -- one with noise cancelling and the other without. That's partly because I assume the one without would be the budget 'pods. But also, my grandson tends to wear his everywhere and constantly. But he is able to hear what is going on around him and hold conversations while wearing them. I assume he would not be able to do that (as well) with noise cancelling AirPods.
(and, even if he were able to adjust the noise cancelling level I doubt that he would).Having used noise cancelling headphones for quite some time now (since the mid 90's), they are designed to get rid of "white noise" and not conversations. The original Bose headphones were based on the Aviation Headsets where not hearing anything but what was being played in the cans would be dangerous, as airplane engines misfiring and such would lead the pilot to keep flying in ignorance, rather than being clued in to the problem. Not having music playing on my Bose QC series made conversation easier, not harder. -
Tim Cook talks sustainability in Ceres keynote speech
Good on him. I'd rather that a company that believes in this leads rather than a government that forces people to do things under imprisonment or financial ruin.
I know there are those that say that this is an immanent threat with dire consequences to be experienced in the next 7-30 years, as it has for the last 100 years, but it's nice to see Apple putting its money where its mouth is, rather than putting my money where their mouth is.

New iOS 13 'Find My' app helps Redditor recover iPad lost at airport
My wish (and I don't know if it is true now, but...) is to have lost mode power down the screen, turn off all apps except location tracking and cell/wifi radio for known networks, and prevent power off from occurring (it can fake power off, if needed), and wake up and ping location every minute to my Apple ID.Last Tuesday, my iPad was stolen from work, and I tracked it down, and the person found with it now has 4 counts of felony possession of stolen material charges pending against him. He stole about $14,425 of value from me, and I got it all back, thanks to my persistence (it was 20 feet away from me at one point, and the police were too busy with other things, but I was told not to confront the people... and I didn't, even when one of them asked me for gas money for their getaway car that was out of gas... really, I can't make this stuff up...), and FInd My iPhone app, and a fully charged battery. The only way I got my stuff back is that the thieves did not shut my iPad off. If they had, there's no way I would have caught them.Rules to live by:Keep your stuff chargedHave "Find my ..." turned onDon't leave it laying around. (Yeah... I shouldn't have done that, but it was an open area at work, with 360 degree views, and I was one of 18 people that got stuff stolen)If stolen, notify the police immediately. If stolen, put in lost mode immediately.
