Just make them pay fair taxes in US. I’m thinking at least 30% just as Apple charges for the AppStore
A better idea would be to charge everyone 30% tax on net income, including religious organizations and zero refunds.
Or even better-er, charge everyone 23% on things they purchase, and not on their income.  Also, have a pre-bate, where the tax load on the basics of life are paid out to everyone.

Income taxes are inherently wrong, as they implicitly state that the money isn't yours.  What the government lets you keep is yours, only if you jump through hoops and are controlled by those that write the rules, so I guess the money isn't really yours.

  • Apple first U.S. company to hit $2 trillion market cap

A long way to go before they’re in Dutch East India Co. territory (about $7 trillion valuation), but it’s a start. ;)
Groan, here we go again, with an utterly bogus valuation comparison.

Btw, the guy that invented wheel is worth 700 billion trillion in today’s dollars, so please stop.
While it may be a bit of a stretch to accurately calculate several hundred years worth of inflation coupled with multiple currency fluctuations, the Dutch East India Company was a massive powerhouse that bent the will of kingdoms the world over.

Apple is big and powerful.  But it’s nowhere near as big and powerful as the Dutch East India Company was back then.  Lacking a better metric, the valuation comparison stands IMO.
The funny thing is that for most of the years between 1600 - 2020 (at least in the US, inflation was coupled with deflation, so that a dollar in 1910 was worth $1.04 1790 dollars (source:  https://www.measuringworth.com/calculators/uscompare/relativevalue.php ) as a measure of CPI.  Not bad for 120 years.  Using that same site, the last 110 years have see the dollar in 2019 is worth 3.6 cents in 1910 dollars.

Constant incremental nflation hasn't been with us always.

A highly political article under which Comments are allowed!  Refreshing!

    LET FREEDOM REIGN!
Sorry, we’ve given up on freedom it’s $$$ that buys elections.  But, feel free to think otherwise...
2016 was the exception to that statement:

What is amazing is the ratio was almost 2:1.

  • Here's how to play ambient sounds on your HomePod

Wonder which feature will be used less. Widgets on Mac OS or this?

At least with widgets you could see they were there and experiment. Without some visual clue no one will know these exist and will have been forgotten about by February.

I’m an Apple nerd and didn’t know about this feature until this article. Even then when I tried to have Siri “play ambient fireplace” it “couldn’t find anything.”
Because software documentation is like having all the articles of a scavenger hunt, and those that want those articles have to know they want them, then find the person that has them, and when they get frustrated and ask, “Why don’t we have this feature???” Some smart-aleck points them to a site that has what they’re looking for and treat them like they’re lazy, a fool, ignorant, or a combination of all of them.

Then there’s the Release Notes Model, where it assumes that the reader knows everything, and just needs to know the new things the software brings in.  Without the comprehensive user manual, release notes are more of a marketing document than a source of information, as the cumulative release notes are needed to actually know what the device does.

Above all, it’s a negative experience of search, and maybe “find”.

  • Photos claim to show 'AirPods Pro' charging case

I hope that Apple does come out with 2 versions -- one with noise cancelling and the other without.  That's partly because I assume the one without would be the budget 'pods.   But also, my grandson tends to wear his everywhere and constantly.  But he is able to hear what is going on around him and hold conversations while wearing them.  I assume he would not be able to do that (as well) with noise cancelling AirPods.

(and, even if he were able to adjust the noise cancelling level I doubt that he would).
Having used noise cancelling headphones for quite some time now (since the mid 90's), they are designed to get rid of "white noise" and not conversations.  The original Bose headphones were based on the Aviation Headsets where not hearing anything but what was being played in the cans would be dangerous, as airplane engines misfiring and such would lead the pilot to keep flying in ignorance, rather than being clued in to the problem.

Not having music playing on my Bose QC series made conversation easier, not harder.
