  • Time Machine backups causing issues for some Apple Silicon Mac users

No Time machine problems here with M1s backing up, other than cat unplugging the HD.

  • AirPods are no longer cool, claim people who can't afford them

I use wired because they came in the box, are cheap, don’t have a battery and work well. Cool doesn’t come in to play.

  • Tom Hanks film 'Finch' sets Apple TV+ film premiere record

I watched the whole thing and thought it was good. This isn’t a Disney movie where everything turns out great in the end. Finch is an engineer, with a lab of tools, so creating an AI robot is believable. Actually he had a AI robot prior to the current two legged version. Personally I think it was well done. Finch ensured the dog made it to a better place to live on, where there is signs of people. The dog wasn’t his to begin with, however the girl and her mother were killed, prior to the start of the movie. So you have the backstory of Finch, the dog and the creation of the robot as character development. Yes solar storms can destroy a lot of stuff, so you don’t need man made destruction. Through the story does cover humans killing each other, over what little resources were left.

  • 9-year-old unlocks unconscious father's iPhone with his face to call 911

Missing some details here or some are wrong.

Brandao's family set up a borrowed generator after their home had gone without power for three days due to the powerful nor'easter that wreaked havoc on wide swaths of the East Coast. Though the generator was operated outside for only a few minutes before it was switched off and brought indoors, carbon dioxide permeated throughout the house at a detected 1,000 parts per million.
If the generator is off, it isn't generating any CO.

    From an article:
She said they set the generator up near the back door outside their home and only ran it for a few minutes before shutting it down because it was noisy.
Then she and her husband unplugged everything from it and brought it into the house for safekeeping.
They thought it was a safe place, but now she realizes it was too close to the house.
The National Weather Service says you should keep a backup generator at least 20 feetaway from doors, windows and vents and recommends homes have working carbon monoxide detectors.
Probably fuzziness of thinking after that, however I doubt it was only for a few minutes. Seems running it near the door, was the problem. Just not going to get fridges cold or stuff charged in that amount of time. Glad they are ok. Wondering if he had his eyes open, to be considered looking at his phone.

  • It's time to drop apps that don't support Apple Silicon natively

Having most of our computers now M1s, I would love everything we use to have native Apple Silicon code. Most of my software is Apple Silicon, however some of it is not. People can think and do as they want, however I think it is silly at this point to abandon software just because they don't have native Apple Silicon code. Some of the software is quite complex and overall Macs are a small part of the world and Apple Silcon are a smaller part of that. Some developers will quit, others will not continue to program for the Macs, some will continue at their pace, and there will be new blood. What about drivers? Will that printer I have, continue to support Macs and Apple Silicon? What about games? Roblox is a very popular game/experience that so far is Intel, and there is nothing on their plans/site that even says anything about the Apple Silicon or M1 Macs. Roblox didn't adopt Metal right away. I imagine Robox will have Apple Silicon code, when they feel the time is right. As of 2020, only 75% of Roblox's users were on Metal. What about other games? Another game I have is Trainz, they didn't adopt Metal until this year. Trainz now supports Metal and Apple Silicon, however they require Mac OS Big Sur and above.

I only dumped 32 bit software, when no longer supported by the OS and I will do the same with Intel software. This is going to be a long process and I think Rosetta 2 will be around a long time, to keep from annoying a large group of people.
