  • Apple TV with faster processor, 'Find My Remote' tech could launch in 2021

Two ATVs here. Love them. You can turn down the sensitivity and put the remote in a sleeve. Other options are the remote app or add a regular tv remote to control the atv. The interface is smooth and fast.

  • Smart TV adoption outpacing streaming devices like Apple TV, Roku

Every “smart” TV is android based so no thanks. My Sony has android built in and it’s a pain. Give me a monitor and let me decide what to connect to it.

Not even. A lot are WebOS, Roku, and a few other OSes.

This is really another Apple vs Android kind of thing. Market share is smart TVs, quality is Apple TV. Smart TVs are cheaper, bad UI, updates are questionable, often spy on you or are poor security, thus allowing others to spy on you. We love our Apple TV’s.

I want Apple to go all the way and release an A14 Apple TV or even an Apple Silicon based one. If Apple wants to stay relevant and deepen us into their ecosystem they need to start doing something with Apple TV.

Also maybe Apple can have contracts with certain TV manufacturers to run tvOS with A-chip hardware because everything else is garbage.
AppleTV has been using Apple silicon for a long time.

  • Apple releases third betas of iOS 14, iPadOS 14 to public testers

Weather in Smart Stack is working fine here, though it was black for a short period after the upgrade.

  • Apple issues first public beta of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and tvOS 14

They improved shortcuts. There is a new calculate expression function. I can now calculate BMI in one go, vs many steps before. I don’t have a connected scale, so I use a shortcut to input weight and body fat. The shortcut pulls the height from the Health app, calculates BMI and adds all three measurements to the Health app.

  • Compared: Apple's Developer Transition Kit versus Mac mini

You see, it’s the lack of thunderbolt that’s worries me. I know some will say that it’s “just” a developer machine. But that doesn’t explain it. Thunderbolt is part of the PCIe bus. But it’s also an Intel product. It’s the same problem we have with the iPad Pro not having it. I’m sure that I’m not the only iPad Pro user that badly wants this.

if Apple can’t get thunderbolt on ARM Macs, that will be a big problem.
There is no logic for Apple not getting Thunderbolt on public ARM MACs. Likely it will be the USB4 variant, due to thunderbolt being part of the USB4 spec and cheaper for everyone to use.
