  • For the first time, Linux gamers outnumber Mac in Steam's game census

As much as I enjoy my Mac for desktop usage with how fast and quiet it is, it just isn’t good for gaming. About 1/4th of my total steam library is available on MacOS, less than my Steam Deck with Proton. Some games I can’t play because they’re 32 bit. The only real thing I played on it was World of Warcraft, but my PC handles it much better and I can play my entire library on it, so I do.
Apple needs to learn that their token features every WWDC about some big game that’s 4 years old finally coming to Mac “later this year” isn’t enough for developers to care.

  • Apple tiptoes onto Threads -- but hasn't fully embraced it yet

I do not have a F*c*book account, and I will not have a F*c*book account.

Apple should look at Mastodon or Spoutible instead of that horrible company.
    You advertise where people are.
Fediverse does not have enough people to jump on it instead of something pushed by Meta that easily connects to your Instagram account with one easily accessible app.
Look a the ease of use for finding people on Threads, you just need to know their @, while on the Fediverse you need to know which instance someone is on and hope your instance federates with theirs, or make a new account on that instance.
So your ability to advertise on the Fediverse is impossible without making thirty thousand accounts across the various instances that have popped up. Good luck trying to create a cohesive brand strategy and presence on that.

  • Microsoft says loosened App Store gaming rules still make for a 'bad experience'

At the end of the day why let them on the App Store for free while using apples tools to function but not pay Apple their share. They should make it web app based and the problem would be no more.
That is what the developer fee is for. Every developer pays Apple "their share". This functions exactly as Netflix does in terms of paying Apple "their share". A launcher is downloaded from the App Store, Netflix or xCloud. That's it.
Do you cry that Netflix doesn't pay Apple "their share" anymore now that Netflix doesn't allow subscriptions through the App Store? Will you demand that Apple kick Netflix out of the App Store now?

  • Microsoft says loosened App Store gaming rules still make for a 'bad experience'

On day one of loosened rules the complaints from the companies that don't get the full control that they want are rolling in.

Microsoft already controls the entire user experience on XBOX. Why do you think Microsoft should get complete control over someone else's operating system? How is that fair?
I refuse to believe you two are this clueless. Do you two believe that Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, and Pandora have "complete" and "full control" over iOS? Are you two trying to compete on how utterly ignorant you can be in your comments? Or is your hatred of any company that is not Apple completely blinding you?

These apps are simply that, apps. Microsoft isn't asking for an xCloud app screen between the widgets view and the first home screen. They're not asking for a control center toggle to launch xCloud baked into iOS 14. They're asking to be able to put one app into the store, that allows you to stream Halo, Gears of War, and other games without downloading an app for every game. How do you get that Microsoft and Google demand "full control" when they want to put xCloud and Stadia into the App Store without 4038934893 different apps for each game?

These apps aren't even doing anything special, they don't require deep iOS integration to work. They render a video, and have inputs for users. Netflix, but with more options than just fast forward and play/pause. Did you two scream and cry about Netflix when it came to the App Store? No, you didn't, because Netflix wasn't constantly being crapped on by Apple.
