I am really impressed with how Apple Watch can control my hearing aids with the Resound Smart 3D app, but it only works when my phone is switched on and the the App is running on my phone. If the phone times out, as I would expect it to in say a theatre, the watch function is worthless just when it would be most useful. 
Is there any settings that I can use to change this or does it need a change in the app or a modification to the iOS?
A positive reply would be a life changer for me.
