  • Apple threatens to close Epic Games developer account on Aug. 28

Beside the fact that I don't like Epic - I'm crossing my fingers hoping that Epic wins. 30% was once reasonable in the beginning - nowadays it is just a sign that there is something wrong with the AppStore and that there is no competition. Apple is clearly abusing its dominance and by the way as far as I can see when your software costs $5,99 on the AppStore you are not allowed to sell it for $4,99 somewhere else.
If Apple is sued to pay back all the money it pirated over the last years - this would be a huge pay check for me (just dreamin) ... Go Epic!!!
Oh kbee... starting your comment with I don’t like epic but I support them it’s not going to give credibility or sense to your post. Your are not just dreaming or are “Walt Disney World Dreaming”. Apple didn’t take that money illegally each developer went through several Next, Next, Next, Next and AGREE. In courts HOPE doesn’t  play well but AGREEMENTS on the other hand. Yes they do.

Apple is on the wrong side of this battle.
Dropping the game, killing their developer account, and such are predictable and Apple is on very solid legal ground with those actions.
Personally I think Apple's 30% on sales is in line with other stores. I think they will be able to defend that as well.
I have a problem though, with the 30% on sales that do not go through Apple's ecosystem. Epic setting up their own payment system to go directly to their servers is logical and simplifies the transaction. Other that Apple taking their cut there is no reason for aftermarket purchases to go through Apple. It's like if I decided to drive for Uber and Toyota demanded a cut of what I got.
Apple gets paid nicely for hosting and selling the games. the cut of aftermarket sales is hard to justify. Oh and before anyone says that all of these companies would then have their games for free on the AppStore but you'd have to pay them directly to play them, yes that would be a problem. But Apple should deal with that real problem, not pretend that they deserve a cut of each Prime Video ans Spotify stream we get.
Uber? Toyota? - Not even close....

but now that you mentioned Uber....

An Uber driver (Epic) want to use the Uber platform (App Store) yet doesn’t want Uber Platform to get a cut from every ride booked within the UBER DEVELOPED AND MAINTAINED platform. Uber driver want access to more than a billion riders for FREE?

  • Review: Apple's final Intel 27-inch iMac is going out with a bang

Fortunately, the new 27-inch iMac remains one of the few machines in Apple's consumer lineup to feature user-upgradable storage.
Cringe. MEMORY. This is a computer review, right?  The actual storage is not upgradeable.

There are always going to be new Macs coming down the line and Intel support is going anywhere anytime soon
    Does anyone review/QA anymore?
    What about “quicker FireFault encryption”?

Someone needs coffee followed by a Lg diet coke and a snickers bar.

  • Google follows Apple's lead, boots Fortnite from Play Store [u: sued]

    9.99 x 0.7=6.99 (30% Route)

9.99x0.20=7.99 (“Awesome 20%” by going direct)

if they are sooo outrage about the decade old 30% from Apple why in the process of cutting Apple their revenue increase $1

I would have slightly care if they say: we aren’t paying apple the 30% you can buy direct for 6.99

but causing a s*t storm for Apple being greedy or a monopoly while you pocket an extra $1 of ton of users...sure this is about fairness

30% is industry standard. App Store give them access to millions of users yet they want it for free...unbelievable

ByteDance is a propaganda machine for the Chinese Govt and everything going on in Xinjiang - are people so blinded by their dislike of Trump that .....

Are you so blinded by Trump's hate of China?
Are you aware of China's hatred of the US that goes back before Trump's presidency? The US isn't the only country looking to ban TikTok as well... get off your anti-Trump soapbox and open your eyes to ByteDance being a contributor to mass-murders. The idea that this company is being defended baffles me - this ban should happen regardless of who's in office. It would be absurd if Biden wins in November and removes any potential ban that would be in place.

Does Trump have any more evidence for that nonsense than he had for his Huawei nonsense?
So the genocide in Xinjiang is nonsense? Even the Washington Post acknowledges it and calls out both BtyeDance and Huawei as contributors to the censoring and monitoring of Uighur Muslims on behalf of the Chinese Govt...
This is not about genocide and how terrible the Chinese government is...

The toddler-in-chief doesn’t care about humanitarian reasons so let’s tell the truth...

This is about how Tik-Tok users destroyed his “MAGA” rally in OK and like a kid wants to be vindictive and prevent it from happening again before elections.
I'm confused. So now it's ok if a foreign entity interferes in an election?
Don’t be confused. It’s not ok for a “foreign entity” aka “tik-tok teenagers” to interfere with elections or anything else.

I hope our elections are more secure or at least have better security than Trump’s rally seat reservation system.
