  • Logitech releases HomeKit Secure Video-enabled smart doorbell

Housing design tends to lag pretty far behind the times.  My house is about 17 years old now and has a recess for a CRT television, which was already going out of fashion 5 years before the house was built.  Doorbell placement in many homes is tied to the convenience of the hardware location, and in many homes that hardware resides in the garage, which translates to a wall besides the door.  Wireless doorbells allow for more optimal placement and better viewing angles.

  • Starlink starts $99 per month 'Better than Nothing' internet service beta

Yes it’s expensive. Yes it’s not great speeds and is laggy. But it’s beta. They barely have half of their initial fleet up. It will improve as there are more launches. Plus if you are in the wilds of Nunavit it might be your only option. It’s better than nothing.
If you consider how Tesla handles other products in Beta, it will continue to get better over time.  Maximum speeds, stable throughput, consistency of availability, are all things I could see them improving.  Latency... perhaps with hardware upgrades to both the satellite and ground equipment.  It was honest of them to set current expectations.

  • Mophie announces new 3-in-1 wireless charger for iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods

Too bad that.  I would be looking for the versatility of charging a fourth device for my kids.  They switch between AirPods and Solo Pros, and the 3-in-1 with a USB port would be a great solution.

CPB is the outfit of goons that has been deployed to put down social unrest in the US, right? They haven’t exactly distinguished themselves in that role either.
No. They are not the ones deloyed to put down social unrest.  CBP are "Customs and Border Protection". They inspect incoming goods, charge tariffs, etc.  They also man border crossing points to check your passports and visas.   And they also run border patrols where those who enter illegally tend to hang out I think.

Riots and vandalism are usually handled by local and state law enforcement.  Except when federal property is involved or federal crimes are being committed, in which case federal law enforcement agencies can get involved, but that is not usually CBP.
    Actually...

Chad's comments are apt, they have indeed been used as a goon squad against their core mission.

  • Amazon Halo is a wearable health tracker that listens to your voice

Amazon also mentions rich third-party integration with health and wellness companies, including WW (formerly weight watchers.)
That right there tells me everything I need to know.  They wanted a product that will convince users to give up their private health data, so that they could make money "sharing the data with partners."  If a user opts out, well, Amazon itself will be able to user that data to target the user with product suggestions.
