Patent troll targets Apple in touch screen patent infringement case
Ya know, I wonder if any of these patent trolls are dumb enough to go after the Pablo Escobar brand. If one of these infamous patent troll were to disappear while attempting to sue in the eastern district of Texas, and his dismembered and mutilated corpse, that was clearly tortured before death, was found in a bag outside of the courthouse... I wonder if that would produce an adequately chilling effect. -
Apple lays groundwork to use iPhone as a car key via NFC
boxcatcher said:ITGUYINSD said:Well that just saved me $70000+ (that I don't have in the first place)! I could not buy a car that doesn't have CarPlay.
CarPlay became necessary b/c most car companies treated the info system as an afterthought and/or don’t have nearly the software talent that Apple could muster, resulting in years of absolutely poop in-car info/mapping systems.
This simply does not apply to Tesla.
I got my wife our first Tesla and it became quickly apparent that the Tesla UI just didn't need CarPlay to be usable. As Boxcatcher infers, Tesla has the talent to make a decent UI experience, and the will to keep improving it without needing to buy the next car model to partake in upgrades.
Also, sending an address to the car is as simple as sharing it. -
Developers can soon sell Mac and iOS apps as a single purchase
It is a little early to say, "Developers can now sell..." considering the initial support has only begun appearing in an Xcode seed build. Quite a few news outlets jumped on that today, but it would be more accurate to say, "Developers will soon be able to sell Mac and iOS apps as a single purchase." This type of report won't get Developers jumping onto something that isn't yet ready or end users clamoring for a bundle that can't yet be made. -

AccountEdge abandons Catalina compatibility, customers looking for alternatives
It is super clear that they are using this as an excuse to funnel their customers to the subscription model. That gives them a consistent income source in perpetuity and effectively one less codebase to worry about. The only reason they even offer the first option is likely because the tax tables are platform independent and it doesn't require any additional effort. There should be no pride pointing toward a 30 year old codebase, just think of all of the optimizations their software is surely missing out on as it currently stands.
