iPhone 14 hitting east coast's biggest agricultural fair with false 911 calls
jgreg728 said:I feel like the easy solution for this Crash Detection problem to this is to have an “Only On with CarPlay” option to toggle in Settings.
Greater machine learning capacity on both watch and phone hardware should allow for more robust crash identification, and then the devices could afford to spend the time trying to get confirmation from users that this is a false alarm. When moments could matter in a real accident situation, you don't want the device wasting time. -
Philips Hue adds Matter support to existing bridges
🤦🏽♂️ I read through this article, thought cool I should go add the bridge to HomeKit, and followed the instructions. (You'll need to have an account linked btw.) The Hue app provides code for the bridge, and you can add that to the HomeKit app.
At this point I should have asked myself, should I do this, what additional benefits do it I get, and most importantly are there any repercussions... Once the hub is added, HK also adds all of the individual lights connected to the hub. So now I have a bunch of individual lights in the HomeKit Default Room, that are in some cases duplicates of stand-alone lights, and in other cases are individual lights from a group that was already setup in the Hue app.
So if you have everything setup already, then you probably do not need to try this out. Also, if you are in this duplicate lights situation, you can view the HomeKit Home Settings and remove one of the duplicate bridges, but be really sure you are removing the one that isn't already correctly setup. Its lights will all be in the Default Room, just ignore the hub's name which might include the word Default. 😉 -
Second Gen AirPods Pro get new USB-C case that can be charged by iPhone 15 directly
When my family goes out of town, I pack each of them a tech bag for keeping their devices charged. Lately that just means one of the compact dual USB-C adapters, a watch cable, and lightning cable. They also carry a MagSafe battery. When it comes to charging, they charge overnight through the battery. That just leaves the kids AirPods, which they need to charge separately.
I wonder we'll be able to also charge AirPods with this configuration. Battery>iPhone 15>AirPod Pros. 🤔 -
Nomad 130W GaN Power Adapter review: Plenty of USB-C power for 3 devices
speedgarage said:These new GAN chargers all have the same design flaw: they’re too heavy and easily slip out of the power socket. There should be a small cord between the brick and the outlet to prevent that from happening.jfabula1 said:speedgarage said:These new GAN chargers all have the same design flaw: they’re too heavy and easily slip out of the power socket. Going to direct you to the post directly above yours. Blrzz has the right of it; if your outlets are too loose for a heavy adapter, you should consider replacing them. -
Apple Vision Pro could make the invisible, visible for engineers, troubleshooters, and tec...
Definite parallels to the VISOR worn by Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: TNG. The Vision Pro wouldn't necessarily need external sensors itself for some applications if the observed device were output data from internal sensors. For example, if a machine had sensors collecting temperature, electrical, noise, or motor speed data, that could be appear as an overlay when visualizing. Some information could be extrapolated from other data points and that could appear as well.
