  • Family hit with $3,100 App Store bill after kid goes on Roblox spending spree

If the mom gave her kid the credit card and as a result they bought £2500 of candy on Amazon (or at Tesco - it's also a grocery), nobody would think to blame the candy company or Amazon.

Or the child used the Amazon app or Instacart to buy stuff.  Those apps don't have additional protections when making purchases if the credit card is on file, and a kid could just as easily spend thousands.  Parents need to figure out these risks before handing the devices over to their kids.

  • Jlink 34-inch curved monitor review: ultrawide on a budget

I really wish somebody would put out a 49" ultrawide. I've used a 55" 16:9 TV as a display and it's great, except that it's too tall. Knock 6" off the height and it'd be just about perfect. If only there was some way to cut the resolution of the Mac desktop so the menu bar moves down a few inches.
I'm currently using a 34" and I feel like that is a decent size.  The most obvious upgrade for my Samsung C34J791 is a Samsung Odyssey Neo G9, but jumping from 34" to 49" seems like it is going to be too much.  There is also the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8, but that is not UW, and I've gotten used to a wider screen.  The downside of either is the lack of USB-C or TB, and that is a showstopper for me.

  • Jlink 34-inch curved monitor review: ultrawide on a budget

If you want a really nice curved 3440 x 1440 display with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3/4, what fits that bill on the other end of the spectrum from this display reviewed here.  The article mention the Apple display and the BenQ, but neither are curved, so it would have been nice to have something that is more of an apples to apples comparison.  The majority of display reviews don't cover Mac user concerns, so that is where AI reviews are particularly handy.

My current display is a Samsung C34J79x, and it wasn't a bad first monitor for my setup.  It handles its shared Mac/PC role pretty well, but there are some shortcomings and I think I'm in the market for an upgrade.

You need iOS 16.4 and its accessed through the Daily Cash option in the AppleCard "three dot" menu.
For those who need expanded steps on finding it (like me):

    1. Open Apple credit card in wallet.
    2. Click on circle with 3 dots in it.
    3. Click on Daily Cash
    4. Scroll down to Daily Cash Election, click on Set Up next to Savings.
    5. Read the not so fine print (4.07% interest rate as of today (so, yes, it will change daily) then press Continue.
    6. oops! It actually went into Confirming my info, not saying to wait a bit.

If you are not seeing the option, reboot your phone.  I'm running 16.4.1 and was initially thinking that Apple might be doing a slow roll-out, but thought I'd try a reboot.  Sure enough, the Savings option appeared after it booted back up.

(Edit:  Also, it seems that GS is was not prepared for Apple users voracious appetite for all new Apple things.  Getting Savings Unavailable multiple times while moving through the process.  Either keep clicking Next or wait a couple days for the initial rush to subside.)
