  • Apple retail, HR chief pushes back against union drives at Apple Stores

I love Apple but this is classic double talk that doesn’t mean anything. Giving workers a say in their working environment will make Apple more slow in dealing with workers concerns? The argument makes no sense.
If an employer is proud of the promises they make to employees, why not put it in writing?

  • EU law will force Apple to blow open its entire hardware and software stack

It is very unlikely Apple will leave the EU, and very unlikely the US will actually adopt such far reaching regulation.

Apple could offer an iPhone without iOS and let people install android on it and wash their hands of the consequences for users. Or offer a  “basic” version of the operating system with out many of the standout features apple fans would want. They could even lower the quality of the aesthetics of the basic OS. Apple has a lot of customers because of its differentiation against alternatives. The company has millions of reasons why to continue down its preferred path. This regulation is unlikely to stop this.

  • Netflix to launch ad-supported tier when it cracks down on password sharing

The Ad-free experience has been core to Netflix from the beginning. It seems a strange business strategy to become more like Hulu exactly at the moment customers are trying to differentiate between streaming options. Ad agencies are putting out rainbows of huge payouts but this is a large risk. It seems to me another example of activist investors potentially ruining businesses.

  • Apple launches webpage detailing $30M bag-and-technology search lawsuit settlement

It is very simple. If you are at your workplace, and your boss tells you to do something, you are at work and must be paid. What other possible solution is there?

  • Warner Bros' 2021 films will release simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max

Does HBO Max stream in 4K anywhere? I know in Canada, where I live, it does not.
In order to get HBO Max in Canada for $10/month, you first have to have a subscription to Crave TV which costs $10/month, and as far as I can tell, in order to get Crave TV, you have to have a cable TV supplier, which typically ranges from $70 to $130 per month depending on which package you get (and that's just the programming charge, the "Fibe" service costs $25/month on top of that.) I've been saving my money instead of wasting $175/month on TV. Over 30 years, that adds up to $63,000 I've saved.

And by the way, here's a secret. If the TV service includes a "box", then that box is "compressing" the signal between the service provider and your house. So a 4K movie isn't really a 4K movie at all because of the compression algorithms. In my opinion this is a major fraud being perpetrated on the consumer.
Many HBO properties are on CraveTV but not all. You can signup for CrabeTV just like you would for Netflix. There is an Apple TV app or you can watch in your browser etc.
