  • White House set to entirely ban TikTok from App Store

Are you so blinded by Trump's hate of China?
Are you aware of China's hatred of the US that goes back before Trump's presidency? The US isn't the only country looking to ban TikTok as well... get off your anti-Trump soapbox and open your eyes to ByteDance being a contributor to mass-murders. The idea that this company is being defended baffles me - this ban should happen regardless of who's in office. It would be absurd if Biden wins in November and removes any potential ban that would be in place.

  • White House set to entirely ban TikTok from App Store

ByteDance is a propaganda machine for the Chinese Govt and everything going on in Xinjiang - are people so blinded by their dislike of Trump that they're just going to ignore that ByteDance itself is a terrible company? They share data they collected with the Chinese Govt for the purpose of prosecuting anyone who it deems is going against China and is contributing to the literal slaughtering of human beings...

  • US trying for 'clean network' by banning 'untrusted Chinese apps' like WeChat, TikTok

People are talking about two different things - the data isn't being used for advertising or anything like that...the data being collected and shared with the Chinese gov't is for the purpose of prosecution. Covid has significantly reduced traveling but do you think if we were living under normal conditions you wouldn't have travelers to China being harassed and arrested based on the data collected by an app like TikTok? They're doing it to their own people and once you cross that border you have little to no protection. In addition to proactively providing data, they also are a propaganda machine for the Chinese gov't specifically related Xinjiang. That to me is enough for countries to come together to ban the app...

  • Rumor: 'watchOS 7' could help Apple Watch detect panic attacks

as someone with a panic disorder/anxiety this would only feed in to the condition and cause people to become obsessed with the readings. I actually had to stop wearing my Apple Watch because I found myself consistently checking my heart rate when I started to feel panic which then created a vicious cycle of feeling panic, seeing heart rate go up which would bring more panic and I would check again to see if it went down as I tried to calm down...wash, rinse, repeat.

  • Apple's new iPhone 12 may look like an iPad Pro; smaller HomePods in 2020

I think luxury items such as the HomePods might have a tough time gaining traction when things settle down. There are a lot of people currently out of work and those still with jobs are learning to be minimalist. It may be tough to get people to justify converting from the Echo to the HomePod - for the average person, there's just not enough differentiation justify that cost. The same would apply to those with nothing - Amazon is practically giving away Echo Dots and Echo Shows so with little functional differentiation why would you pay a premium cost? I'm speaking as someone who is fortunate and still has a good job - I know there's nothing that the HomePod offers that would make me think $300 is worth it.
