More M2 Max benchmarks leak, show better performance
I just got my Mac Studio M1 Ultra w/ 128GB and 2TB. I think this puppy might be the last computer I ever buy - I’m old, and I’m doing less and less 3D & AE on purpose. I have personal film projects I’m about to undertake, so this will be my last hurrah. But I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years brings to all you excellent designers that make the future of design I’ll be in awe. -

Foxconn paid 20,000 rioting workers to leave the company
Conspiracy or not, Apple needs to find a new resource. Would I pay $200 more for an iPhone sources from a non-humanitarian humiliating state? Yes/No. I’d like to see Apple eat $100 of the new resource costs, then I’d happily fork over another $100 too. Foxconn China is just a terrible company. I really want to see Apple diversify in its manufacturing network. -
Jean-Louis Gassee doesn't know who an iPad is for, and thinks you don't either
You know what else? I automobile will never replace the trusty horse. 🙄
I use my iPad Pro 11” everyday as my consumption device, but also as a replacement for my Wacom. An iPad with Astropad Studio is an amazing addition to my digital toolset. Procreate, Illustrator, TouchDraw 2, and I’ve written two novels on my iPads (I’ve had others). The game-changer for me is the Logitech Keyboard Folio which makes the iPad very Surfacey. That’s one thing Microsoft got right, the kickstand and detachable keyboard. -
Apple's $4B ad business at odds with internal culture and values
I thought the ad business was cratering on all digital platforms. I rarely notice ads on Apple News and I don’t use the App Store much. Do others see these gambling ads a lot? Curious. I have seen them, but only on a scant few “free” apps I have. What does drive me crazy is the repetitive ads I see once reading articles in Apple News, but I assumed those were pushed by the article author/publishers. Yes/no?
I don’t know how I’d react to an iPhone with ads placed on the home screen or sprinkled within more apps I depend upon. With the new tiers of Disney+ and Netflix offing ads at a lower premium, if these models prove more valuable to those companies, will there come a time when there are no more ad-free options?
