Apple TV hardware will never be more than a hobby, unless Apple changes direction
Yeah, no. While sure it could be improved, it is far from a hobby device. The AppleTV works really well for most people. In my case, it is mostly for Plex, for my mom it is mostly for YouTube & AirPlay.The actual hobby things are the Apple Services and only serve to dilute the brand image of Apple. Last time I tried Apple Arcade, in mid-2022, it had 1 game that I liked, which was HitchHiker. Apart from that it was just a mish-mash of small indie games. Games which are normally FREE on the Epic Store or sell for few bucks. To illustrate my point, Epic Games had "Alba" for a price of FREE just last week iirc. Even HitchHiker is regularly on sale on Steam & other storefronts.AppleTV+ still makes some sense due to the deep ties that Apple has to the creative movie-making world, which comes out in the quality of their shows.

iMessage for Android would have stifled innovation, says Craig Federighi
Keeping iMessage off Android has only led to a fragmented messaging market. Most of my friends and family started off with iOS. But over time a few people switched to Android. Most are still on iOS. But because of Apples decision, we all had to switch to WhatsApp or Signal. As such my iMessage use has gone down drastically. Apple just lost market share to them at the end of the day.

Google is practically begging Apple to adopt RCS, but still isn't all-in itself
Why would we want RCS? Specially when it offers no encryption at all. Why would Apple destroy what they have built for an inferior standard? Google needs to suck up to Apple and get access to the iMessage API. Crying and whining like this in public just makes them seem even more infantile
