  • Apple TV+ greenlights 'Foundation' season two

I find the show absolutely engrossing. I have read and re-read the novels many times and absolutely love how Goyer and his team have used the original material more as inspiration than slavish recreation. The changes are a blast to watch. I also appreciate how it already incorporates the Robot novels...despite the fact that revelation/addition was something Asimov added almost 40 years after writing the original stories. It makes it a much larger world to explore--which is saying something. It is indeed one of the most gorgeously shot shows...and I am really happy to know another season is coming.

  • US official calls Cook's idea to vote on iPhone 'preposterous'

Well, the progressives are already okay with the idea of not having to prove your identity at the polling place. I mean they want to boycott Georgia for requiring it. And then there’s the absentee ballot, the mailed/emailed ballot, all of which can be falsified pretty easily. So I should be able to show up at a polling place, tell them who I am without proof of identity, and vote, right? So whats the problem with iPhone voting?
This is the best example of how either, deliberate trolling, or complete misunderstanding of the point of the article creates nonsense. The author understands neither progressives nor the voting system...and is here propagating lies fed to them by FOX news and Donald Trump's lackeys.

The amount of voter fraud is less than one half of one percent of all votes cast.

The absentee ballot and mail-in ballot have been around for many years and 5 states have been voting entirely by mail since long before the pandemic, including Colorado and Utah--conservative states. If these are so easy to falsify why has there been so little of it? Has the author ever tried to falsify their identity? No, because thy're a law abiding citizen...and it's really hard to do.

The iPhone is one of the most secure ID vaults you can own. You have to prove your identity several times over just to own and use one. then getting in and out of that phone requires biometrics--finger scanners or Face-ID...both of which have been proven to be quite secure.

While it does not exist yet, vote by phone is coming. After all, the entire conservative banking system lets people bank by phone all over the globe, over phones that are far less secure than an iPhone.

This Ohio representative's protest is an early 'shot across the bow' by the Republicans to see if they can get more traction on the talking points raising concern over voter fraud--which, statistically speaking--does not exist.

  • Arizona bill that could force Apple App Store to allow third-party payments one step close...

I see no reason why companies like EPIC won't set up a PO box in Arizona...I'd be surprised if EPIC hasn't already set up faux production houses in AZ in order to comply. I know the text states a substantial amount of in state work...but that is easily met...especially when you are writing the laws--as EPIC did here--and paying the legislators...as everybody is doing here.

This is strangely similar to when internet companies were balking at the fees ISPs were charging when suddenly realizing popular companies used so much bandwidth...and trying to avoid becoming a utility...which ISPs should actually be. Europe got ISPs right and we didn't. But I digress...

The difference here is Apple has created the infrastructure and has listed clear parameters and amounts charged...and has actually lowered those amounts for most of the users. High volume users like EPIC are wanting to pay less--like the rich wanting to pay less in taxes--simply because they 'move so much traffic' (Im supposing--its all about money). This idea that someone can build something, someone else can use that thing to get rich and popular, and then decide they no longer want to pay for the privilege of the help they received on the way up...it is the american mindset.

  • Apple shuts down Epic Games developer account

Quench,  so you believe that Apple owns a piece of all revenues from anything on their devices?

wasnt that way with Macs and ought not be a walled garden with a 30% Apple tax.   iPads and phones ought not be so locked down,  it is anti consumer

So Epic agreed to the contract because they know Apple has an enormous base of customers. Then epic got greedy and thought they could be dishonorable and cheat the company (Apple) that helped them become a worldwide sensation.
epic you suck for your dishonesty, lying to customers when you blamed Apple for the situation that you forced onto itself, stealing from the company that made you extremely wealthy.
I don’t care what quality games you produce, I will not support a greedy, lying, stealing company ever again.
    I'm done with you epic!

If Apple was the only game in town...the only devices...the only apps and only app store...you might have a point.

BUT, if you want an unlocked tech experience, with what I am told are equal or better devices...use Android. Google produces a fine app store over a fine system software...and it is on so many devices from more companies than I can count.

Saying Apple is 'anti-consumer' is disingenuous at best. Comparing the current battle to the one with macintosh is also tech naive, ignoring the actual history and markets--which do not equal the current situation.

Apple deserves whatever fees it sets...and people are willing to pay. There will always be people...like you I assume...who want everything free. But nothing is free...nothing. When you use a google product, where much is touted as 'free' they make their money off selling all your information to advertisers. You must know this by now. YOU are the product. Apple uses a different business model...and while not perfect, nothing is and I prefer their stance on my information than anything google does.

It amuses me when people want less lock down without considering the actual known consequences of that.

    Anti-consumer...puh...lease...

  • Epic isn't planning on making changes to return 'Fortnite' to the App Store

Apple is not going to gain any additional customers with this.
--Apple is not going to lose any customers because of this. FORTNITE is a game for goodness sake. Kids will find their dopamine hits in some other platform. EPIC has played this like a David facing Goliath...without the right kind of sling for the rocks they chose. Apple is far from perfect, but they have a system, it works and EPIC signed on to rules as established...then wanted to change those rules once admitted. If I were on EPIC's board, i would be seriously considering firing the CEO and the entire management team.
