  • Just what we needed: another Apple dongle, this time for USB-C to Lightning

Seriously! WTF!  People complain the iPhone has a Lightning port and that's just to force people to buy cables.  They change the port because of a short sighted EU law and people are still complaining.  Seriously, why do people hate on Apple so much?  If you don't like Apple or their products DON'T BUY THEM.

And if you consider yourself a journalist don't whine about the products they sell like you're some consumer advocate that cares about people when all you really care about is getting clicks by bashing every last thing Apple does.

  • Apple slammed with $1 billion class action lawsuit in UK over 30% App Store fee

Time to start piloting the new program of charging all developers for the use of the API based on number of apps distributed.  I'm sure that those 1500 developers will find that a much more fair way of charging for the use of Apple's intellectual property.

  • Japan law will require Apple to allow alternate iPhone app stores

I wonder if anyone at Apple has been paying attention to what Reddit did recently?  How much will it cost for developers that don't use the Apple App Store to use the APIs that Apple has developed?

  • Withings Body Comp scale has better metrics & Health app connectivity

I have an earlier version of the scale and while it has been reasonably accurate the thing that has always bothered me is the requirement for a subscription.  The app also wants you to give it access to your health information so that it can upload everything else to their servers, where it is nicely protected by whatever security measures and privacy policy they decide to implement -- or not.  (Yes, I have cut that off so it doesn't have access to that, but still...)

  • Apple facing new $5.5 billion App Store antitrust lawsuit in the Netherlands

It's just a matter of time until all of this forces Apple to change their business model and start charging license fees for developer tools and use of and access to APIs, along with charging developers on a per download basis for being in the Apple App Store.  All of which will, of course, eliminate small developers and end the availability of free and low cost apps.  Which surely will make things better for everyone... won't it?
