  • See Apple's VR headset on your desk using augmented reality

First it was iPods isolating people from the ambient sounds of life around them. Then came the iPhone, distracting peoples' eyes from their surroundings. Now comes the VR/AR headset, with the potential to totally isolate us from each other in real life. Users will become nothing but avatars to each other, and human interactions will become obsolete. Guaranteed: the first industry to monetize VR will be pornography. People won't even need each other for sex, or any intimacy, for that matter.

I thank God every day that I was able to grow up without all these dubious "benefits." Developing minds are already being corrupted by commercial saturation inconceivable to my generation (OK, I'm a Boomer). Our house didn't even have a TV until I was 11. Our phone was a party line. Our entertainment came from books, magazines, and most importantly our friends, neighbors and schools. And fertile imaginations. Like my generational contemporary, Steve Jobs.

Coupled with AI, these developments seem like a relentless march toward a lonely, dystopian future, where our replacement becomes inevitable.
Yeah, bring it on. This is what I want

  • Apple agrees to $50M settlement in MacBook butterfly keyboard lawsuit

I still remember the ridiculing I got in here at AI because I dared to mention this problem 4 years ago. Back then, I was just a whining troll …obviously 🙄

  • 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 review: Incremental upgrade and unexciting

Maybe to Apple the suffix “Pro” means “Office professional by day and Gamer by night”. That user group would probably find this new MBP13 interesting.

  • New HomePod model coming as soon as late 2022, according to Ming-Chi Kuo

I bought seven HomePods are they are great but I like all my Sonos stuff better (some later model Sonos are compatible with Airplay). So my four large HomePods are stored away in a box and I only use the three minis for HomeKit thread
You gotta be kidding. I threw both my Sonos One (latest ed.) speakers out as soon as I heard the music quality of my HomePods. Nobody with a pair of functional ears could think differently. I actually don’t even believe you, jamnap.

  • Amber Alert on AirPods damaged teenager's hearing, lawsuit claims

Eardrums ripped or not, Apple sucks at sound management in iOS. The user experience of managing sound volumes is embarrassingly terrible. They should rethink the whole concept with all the different volume types.
