  • Apple stresses security risks of complying with EU's Digital Markets Act

    Here’s a dark scenario:

    1. Apple launches iOS 17.4
    2. Epic launches its own App Store in the EU, featuring Fortnite — arguably the most popular free game ever.
    3. After a 0.1 second hesitation, gazillions of kids and other gamers in the EU side-load Fortnite.
    4. Inspired by Epic’s move, other game developers follow suit.
    5. Things go sideways — by accident or design.
    6. All gamers in the EU conclude that Apple is nowadays as vulnerable and insecure as any other brand.
    7. The whole world adopts this “conclusion”. You might as well buy the cheepest crap out there.

And that’s how you devalue a brand built on safety and security.

  • Leak backs up obvious news that Apple is designing 2nm processors

Here you go, AI, you can get a head start on this headline: "Apple Said to Be Designing 1nm Processors"
Haha, and it's so "obvious" that AppleInsider didn't even bother to upgrade the webpage title from their previous article. The article above still says "Apple is designing 3 nanometer processors for future iPhones".  :D

  • Apple Vision Pro could launch overseas sooner than expected

Japan, Korea, China next up followed by UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.... and EU at the end.
Nah, EU would demand it could run Windoze and Andork, and that anybody could install their own virus software.

  • Five Apple Vision Pro Cinema Environments that we'd like to see

Thinking beyond my single favorite cinema environment, I would like the movie player to automagically choose the best cinema environment for the movie I'm watching. This could add another dimension to immersive movie watching, allowing you to get into the right mood for the movie. Watching the Muppet show from a seat in the Hollywood Studios theater as described above is a great example. But I can easily imagine how watching the coming Neuromancer series from the perspective of a cyberpunk'ie underground hacker environment would enhance the watching experience …a lot. Not to mention watching a scifi movie from inside the International Space Station (ISS).

When you start the movie, the movie player could gradually "fly" you to your watching position. Somewhat like a Sonoma screen saver seemlessly landing you on the desktop, instead of just fading in.

  • The best cloud gaming & game streaming choices for Apple Vision Pro

    @CheeseFreeze ;
Everything in our real 3D world is projected onto the 2D retinas of our eyes, and then interpreted by our brains as 3D. So not much new in that part.
