  • Compared: Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro versus MSI GE76 Raider

I wonder if the screen resolution played a part? Would the MacBook Pro have been faster with the resolution set to roughly half at 1080 down from 3456?

Maybe that explains Apple’s marketing claim.
Of course this has a profound effect on the benchmark numbers, especially the ray tracing / OpenCL. If the rastered image matrices weren’t matched, no true comparison can be made between the two machines.

  • Apple will allow customers to repair iPhones and Macs in 2022

The basic principle of DIY repairs is sound, I guess. But I personally won’t buy any secondhand Apple devices without warranty anymore. The risk that they have been improperly repaired just went through the roof.

I think this may have hurt prices on the secondhand market, which in turn is bad from sustainability perspectives — quite contrary to what people believe. Sustainability does often come with some costs. One of them is the cost for professional repairs.

I don’t say all DIY repairs are necessarily bad, but the risks are quite much higher than if skilled professionals do it. And bad repairs will only send the device faster towards its graveyard.

  • Apple appeals ruling in Epic Games lawsuit, requests stay on App Store changes

I just don't buy the idea that companies/developers are unable to effectively communicate with customers or potential customers outside of the app itself.
I don’t think Apple would mind that communication either, as long as it’s not used to circumvent the App Store fees or lure customers into unfair/insecure deals.

But we all know what would be the first thing these developer companies would do if such communication was possible. And we all know it would damage not only that specific app but the whole iOS ecosystem.

  • Apple, Google must file plans to comply with South Korean app store law by mid-October

Both companies should shut down their Korean app stores until the law is repealed. Let the Korean government create their own devices and app stores just the way they want them, rather than forcing private industry to bow to their politically-motivated whims.
I don’t think it’s a wise strategy to try to treat this as an isolated problem associated with SK only. Or do you suggest Apple and Google should shut down their app stores in every country that put similar demands on them?

  • Epic Games CEO slams Apple 'government spyware'

Sweeney is only out to hurt Apple, whatever side he needs to take. So stop commenting on whether he’s right or not here. You are only feeding the troll.

Instead, take the discussion of whether Apple’s filtering function is a good thing or bad censuring to one of all the other discussion threads here at AI.

And Mr Sweeney, you should just stay out of any CSAM discussions wherever they are taking place. Because just this weekend you invited every single Fortnite player to your biggest event of the year — a face fuck fest with minors, teenagers, and adults. Oral sex is still child abuse even if taking place in the party life of Fortnite. Your own star artist, Ariana Grande, even turned her ass on you after this was taking place between millions of kids all over the party:

So, Mr Swiney man … STFU!
