  • JP Morgan ups Apple price target to $180, citing 5G iPhone SE expectations

Maybe his estimate of Q4 higher than 1.23
Very possible.  Apple has been crushing expectations. 1.33 I think is the highest estimate. Maybe Apple over performs that highest estimate and earns 1.40 — which would be a huge over perform.

that would knock the holiday quarter down to about a needed 1.82 for the math of his prediction to be right. But that will require this holiday quarter to beat last holiday quarter by 10%. Much more doable but still will have to be the ‘best Christmas eva’ in Apple sales to hit that mark.

  • Secret Google document outlines plans to bring games to any device, including Mac

Means nothing. I guarantee you Apple has written a similar document (if they haven't they aren't trying hard enough).
Companies will kick around ideas and even put them into outlines. That's a country mile from implementation. A whole bunch of managers have to OK a plan like that (which diverts a lot of money and people) and these high mangers put their reputations on the line when they go big and it fails. There's a former VP from Microsoft going "I'm tellin ya! Windows mobile OS could have been a huge success. I know it would have!".
Big companies are different than politicians in this way: a big VP or upper director at a big company that is very wrong on a product usually gets their office moved from top floor down to the converted storage closet office -- with a paper on their new desk that outlines "the benefits of looking for a new career somewhere else".

It's the supermarket check out line Hollywood gossip magazines -- only this is online and substitute Apple in place of Hollywood.

It may be funny but I'm guessing it is where the most clicks come from. The only thing I'd say to that is once you go from A to B, it is very hard to get back to A (even when B stops getting so many clicks)

"Shumeyko believed that this information would entitle him to a reward, but no such compensation came.
"'Now it feels like I ruined someone for no good reason, really,' Shumeyko told Motherboard in reference to the Apple employee."

Or to say the same horrible thing another way...

"It would have been good to ruin someone, had I gotten paid for it."

Holy cow!  How you feel about others depends on whether you got paid to nail them?

Hiring amoral "will do anything for cash" people like this to stop leaks and prototype sales is clearly a defense of "the ends justify the means."  But in fact, the ends do not justify the means.  Quite disappointed to hear this news.
Except Apple didn't hire him, or pay him. He came to them in hopes of getting paid.
But the article says this: "Shumeyko first established a relationship with Apple's Global Security team."  That sentence in the article led me to believe the relationship wasn't just one sided.  The article later says this: "The leaker apologized almost immediately to Apple Global Security, who told him that he should consult the team before publishing anything else." So if the relationship was only 1-sided, why apologize to Apple?  And why would Apple Global Security tell him to "consult the team before publishing anything else"?  Was the relationship really 1-sided?

Clearly this guy is in the wrong for reasons I've already stated, but the extend of the Apple relationship is not crystal clear.
Since this guy is the extent of the information, the extent is what this guy says is the information. Your taking a story from one individual to the next step is on you. And Your being seemingly cautiously appalled at Apple trying to gather information on their internal/classified information and IP being leaked is naive.  You should probably avoid buying from hi tech companies as they all, literally all, are going to great extents to keep their work and projects secret, security teams going to significant lengths to stop those who have come into possession of it. They all will all actively engage in this business of trying to keep their private information private. It's that whole 'stuff we are working on will be taken by competitors to try to get an advantage ergo putting us at a disadvantage' thing.

It looks very much like a story looking to cash in on the circuitous 'Apple in the news' graft.  Shockingly it worked again. His name is now out there, he gets time on the Apple "fan" circuit, maybe he gets column somewhere on that circuit, those looking to clutch their pearls get to cautiously clutch their pearls on a story that otherwise means nothing, and the next and even better shocking! story(graft) is coming up tomorrow or the next day. Rinse and repeat...

  • Apple Watch Series 6 review: One year later

Am I the on person who disabled the always-on display? Like… I always know approximately what time it is, it’s not hard, and if I’m working then I’m usually looking at a MacBook that has the time clearly visible… so anyway I get well over a day and a half off each charge, can’t complain about that at all.

I upgraded to the 6 from a 3 so my impressions are much, much more favorable than the reviewers’.
Nope, you're not the only one, I'm with ya on it on all accounts.
-Always on means nothing to me. I don't think the terribly burdensome hurdle of a gesture or a finger touch is of any consequence versus the battery savings (albeit very modest savings).

-battery lasts me just that, about a day and half give or take. I haven't seen it make it though two days under any circumstances, I haven't seen it make it less than a day. Under heavier usage I get a few hours more than a full day. I always wear it sleeping and working out, I take it off when I swim and shower. I have a charge routine just like my phone (and certain other devices), about 75 minutes a day on my multi device charging Anker station. And I realize that as it ages I'll need more time on the charger. Honestly, I Don't get AI's whine on that. If you can't give it a morning or evening charge then you'll need to not wear it for an hour before bed etc while it is on the charger. Oh the horror!

-I've only owned the S6 so I can't compare to earlier AW models. I think the S6 is a great device, much better than AI gives it credit for here. I know some of the specialty watches like Garmin are great for specific applications (big time trainers-outdoors for extended periods). AW is not appropriate for these users. Other than that I'll gladly bet a new Mac Pro M1 :-) with Apple Insider that the S6 is the best wide application use consumer smartwatch there is. I know they will come with the annual perfunctory 'Android Phone Maker ____ really has put "the watch" out this year!'. I suspect I'll agree with them on that claim too as much as their claim here. That's IMO...
