  • Big screen battle -- iPhone 16 Pro Max vs iPhone 15 Pro Max features compared

    javair said:
Using a button to take a picture can cause your phone to MOVE as you shoot it. --You finger, pushing the button, very slightly moving the phone downward as the capture is happening.

Back with my first iPhone (5S), I used one of the physical buttons on the side to activate the image-capture; as one would do with a full stand-alone camera.
Both me and my family found the some shots had a slight motion, as the force to press the button moved the phone a bit.
The shutter button on any stand-alone camera is very loose and perfectly sensitive so that device-movement when held in your hands is not a factor.

Due to the phone moving slightly when I used the side button on an iPhone (as that button on the 5S required some force), I switched to the on-screen red button.

So, I wonder how this new face-touch button will play out.
    Might be just fine.
The original iteration of this idea didn't work out for some of us.
Pressing a button on a camera has never been an issue for like 100 years, since the invention of the camera.  Hold the phone still with two hands, like a real camera.  Tapping the screen causes more movement than holding the phone like a real camera and pressing the volume button to take a picture, which has been a feature for years.  Nothing new.  The capacitive touch camera button just seems like a gimmick anyway.  Add a case and it will be even harder to use with sliding your finger across it.  The phone already has a camera button on the Lock Screen for easy access to the camera.

  • AirPods Max just got the laziest and most disappointing update possible

Since other brands, like Sony and Bose, have better headphones that cost much less (especially on sale), offer more features, and have better sound quality, it is no surprise that AirPod Max at $549 has been a laughing joke.  At least all other headphones have a regular 1/8mm audio input for a wired connection, and it doesn't cost more for a special cable either.  And they don't have a special charging purse either.

So hilarious that all Apple did was break out a few cans of Krylon to spray paint new colors and add a USB-C port, and still charge $549, calling them 'New'.  LOL.

  • Global chaos erupts as Windows security update goes bad

Poor writing and poor headline.  It was not a Windows update.  It was an update pushed out by CrowdStrike, for their software.  Companies that don't use their software were not affected.

  • More M4: When the Mac will get upgraded with the latest Apple Silicon

It is embarrassing that Apple cannot even put the same family of silicon in all of the Macs.  Instead, they waste the M4 in an iPad with the limited iPadOS.  The M4 should have been introduced in the mini, MacBook Air, base model MacBook Pro, and iMac.  Then shortly after bring out the M4 Pro and M4 Max & Ultra in the higher end MacBook Pro and Mac Studio and Mac Pro.

  • How to make boot media for PowerPC Macs on modern hardware

System 7.1 with Macs with built-in CD-ROM drives were the first to ship with System 7 on CD.  System 7.5 and System 7.6 shipped on CD and had a floppy disk option as well.

It can be difficult installing an earlier version of OS X on a vintage Mac because you have to backdate the Mac using the Terminal in order for the OS X installer to run.
