  • Apple Watch Series 6 oxygen sensor just as good as hospital equipment

We take our super-computer smartphones for granted now and people don’t give it much thought — how much power is inside them. However, with a smartwatch .. cramming so much intelligence into a wrist watch (which is likely going to get thinner over time, as graphene batteries are introduced in these devices), is somehow more impressive to me and I understand how medical professionals initially are doubting the capabilities of such small devices, until they see it in action and compare it to million-dollar equipment. I myself have followed the tech industry since the early 1990s to different degrees and I usually start out not overestimating the power, while keeping an open mind about the possibilities that might be in there.

Anyone wonder what size an MRI machine would be, if it was to be developed by a Silicon Valley company? I know nothing about them and not going to pretend I do, but I do wonder how today’s machines from say Philips or the likes would compare to something made by Google X (https://x.company) or some tech startup? Of course, from a humoristic view, these tech-focused machines would require constant software updates despite being mission-critical devices and would lose software support after 6 months, when version 2 of the hardware makes the first one obsolete.

  • Apple tells developers how to use 120Hz ProMotion for iPhone 13 Pro

I don’t own a ProMotion device as of yet, but I’m sure it would be fun to make sample code to compare the behaviour and real impact of different animation speeds. I’m fully aware that some people don’t care about higher refresh rates than 60 Hz, but personally it’s not about the different Hertz numbers — I just want the smoothest possible experience. The screen is the thing you stare at, more than anything else, after all. Maybe it’s just me, but that’s how a device feels fast to me.

  • Apple's tvOS 15 is now available for Apple TV

SharePlay seems to be a really game-changing addition to Apple's eco system. However, I would just like to take the opportunity to mention that XBOX 360 did this through their XBOX Live service, more than a decade ago. Here is also some old news on a Netflix-specific addition to that service: https://venturebeat.com/2008/07/14/netflix-comes-to-the-xbox-360-did-microsoft-just-destroy-the-apple-tv/

What I'm trying to say is that Apple, as we sometimes see, is not necessarly first to implement something, but they really do try to be the company which implements a feature in the best possible way. If you look at the old Xbox service again, it's not like you would use the Xbox "Live Party" mode on a Zune, Windows PC and Xbox simultaneously. As far as I know, it was only something they tried on the Xbox itself - not cross-platform.

Disclaimer: I'm an XBOX One owner, Apple enthusiast and old-school Linux user, so I have all kinds of devices. Writing this comment on the M1 Mac Mini in Monterey beta.

  • Ikea's $40 hidden wireless charger will recharge your iPhone through your desk

When it comes to the Sonos collab, the IKEA SYMFONISK (symphonic) series is literally a word associated with music, while ENEBY is a place outside of Stockholm, where they apparently hold rock concerts annually. On the other hand, most IKEA sofas are named after cities. For example, you have KIVIK, SÖDERHAMN, STOCKHOLM, LANDSKRONA, etc ... all of those are either Swedish cities, suburbs, counties, etc.

IKEA is a subject in itself. I'll just stop there and go look for the iOS 15 update instead ...  :)
