Judge clears way for $500M iPhone throttling settlements
robin huber said:No good deed goes unpunished. The “throttling” was not nefarious, but a good faith effort to protect consumers from overheating phones. In other words what tort attorneys call a business opportunity.
Users should have been given the ability to opt into this behavior, but Apple, always trying to keep things simple, made the behavior automatic for all users. -
Apple is the worst tech firm for losing staff, claims flawed report
The study may be flawed but I can tell you first hand that it's directionally correct. Apple is a sausage grinder for engineers; many people quit or are fired before they even make it two years. And unlike other companies, if your manager doesn't like you, they will do nothing to help you find another position in the company under a different manager--you're just gone. -
Rumor: iPhone 15 may use longer-lasting stacked batteries
Your schematic of a stacked battery is incorrect. You can't make bend radii that small without causing cell shorts.
A stacked battery is made from individual bi-cells stacked, with tabs welded together at one end. Apple has been using both wound and stacked batteries for years, even in the iPhone. All other things being equal, the stacked design does have some advantage in terms of lower impedance which helps enable faster charging. -
15-inch MacBook Air review: Hits the sweet spot for portability and power
I'd like to see them put one of the TB ports on the right side of the machine. Sometimes it's easier to run a charging cord to the right side vs. having all the charging ports on the left.
I'd also like to see an HDMI port, but I guess Apple thinks only Pros would want to project content on an external screen (without a dongle.)
