  • Trump gives Apple a giant break with wide-ranging tariff exemptions

Like I have repeatedly stated on this site and others, . Apple would not be harmed by these tariffs.  It’s amazing how people still do not understand how Trump operates and what his intentions are even after him being president for 4+ years.   Many view him as incompetent or corrupt and greedy but he is just following his America First policies and truly is trying to put America in a better position.  Those suffering from TDS will never see this.
You don't seem to know what he is doing either, you certainly haven't shown any sort of insight via your comments. All you do is fawn over Dear Leader .... Pretty stand cult member behavior. No substance, just attacking anyone that dare question Dear Leader. Let us know when you get off your knees have any things of substance to say.

  • Trump gives Apple a giant break with wide-ranging tariff exemptions

So the Trump "logic" was that if we applied tariffs to imports then companies would be pushed to move production to the U.S, provide enough revenue to lower the national debt, allow for tax cuts and something about fentanyl. Howard Lutnick specifically said iPhone production would move to the U.S. Now Apple has all of its products exempt. How exactly does that push Apple other move manufacturing back to the U.S? And when the most expensive products imported form China are exempt how does that work for getting enough revenue to lower the debt and pay for tax cuts? What is the actual plan because it sure as hell seems like they are just making this up as they go along.

  • China calls Trump's trade war a joke, jumps tariffs on U.S. goods to 125%

Time to push China tariffs to 225%.

China lives and breathes the US dollar.

The US is addicted to Chinese imports.

But America can just as easily wait out some production relocation or shift habits.

China won’t be recovering thst money.

Apple is already reallocating the weight of production. It will take a bit. But it will be done. It’s just too bad that there aren’t more truly free nations to move it to.

The only way the USA wins this is to keep its foot in the gas and not give in to bullies. We’ve been pushed around and robbed long enough. As O’Leary said:enough is enough.” Time to get back.
And the delusional cult carries on.

  • Trade war escalates: Trump hikes China tariffs to 125%, pauses others for 90 days

    camber said:
From the excellent article: "Trump cited a "lack of respect" from China" Let me get this straight. The schoolyard bully got called out, and he says that is disrespectful? He should hope he never finds out what disrespectful really is!

bullies hate being bullied and when things don't go their way they blame others.

very true. China has been bullying the usa on trade and us companies by stealing their ip and even controlling their data. We called them out, They panicked and tried to double down with the tariffs and are now in a tough spot. There is a lot of nuance being revealed. We’ll see how it goes but at least American companies are being looked after, whether with pauses or exemptions.

If my family rents a house from a landlord and that landlord charges them an extra amount bevause we aren’t from that neighborhood, and that same landlord goes to my car dealership to lease a new vehicle, I’m going to Jack up his price too. What’s fair is fair. Now if he wants to stop being a bully and stop the ridiculous additional fees, then I’ll do the same. Equity and parity is all I wanted to begin with.
I don't think you know what the word bullying means.

Also your example is a perfect metaphor for what is happening and it is also the thought process of a child.

So you have a landlord charging too much, extraneous fees or whatever. Rather than simply go and have a discussion about it and try to negotiate your rent (people negotiate rent all the time) you instead have a tantrum and all that power that comes with working at a car dealership to gouge him on the price of a car or for service. So, your net result is that you still pay them too much in rent, your boss made money because you gouged the landlord and you done literally nothing to improve your situation. I mean, throwing a tantrums and having nothing to show for it perfectly describes Trump's tariff approach.

  • Trump blinks: Floats suggestion that Apple might get a tariff exemption

It’s not a “blink.” It has been mentioned a lot here on ai before the tariffs came on. Apple would get an exemption. I’ve personally posted this a few times.

Smart people do smart things. It’s why cook preemptively met with the president prior to the election and why the admin is letting some of the fine tuning show now. It’s always shock and awe to rile up the immoveable players. Then settles into the details. It’s why you hear the phrase/torle “art of the deal” being so talked about lately.

As I’ve BEEN saying, Apple willl be fine.
And the delusional cult continues on unabated, Dear Leader must not be questioned.

Meanwhile in reality Trump has shown how much of a lame duck president he is and U.S. is much weaker on the world stage than it was a week ago.

And because you pointed out in an other thread that you woefully uninformed on trade, let me help you out. What you and Trumpty Dumpty seem to be missing is Trump can't protect Apple or any other company from China. If China decides to start targeting U.S. companies like Apple or Tesla and just boots them from the country then they are absolutely screwed. The U.S. doesn't have the advanced manufacturing capabilities of China and that is something that would take at least a decade to build out. China does almost all of the world's refining of rare earth minerals. Replacing that capability will take a decade to do. China holds way more cards in this trade war than just tariffs. Turmpty Dumpty has brought a squirt gun to a gun fight.

Maybe, just maybe, ponder the potential consequences of Trumps actions rather than blindly cheerleading for him
