Apple releases new firmware update for redesigned Siri Remote
The new remote is head and shoulders above the old Siri remote for 3 main reasons:
1. it’s heavier and feels solid. This means it sits firmly in your hand and doesn’t feel like a flimsy toy.
2. It’s silver rather than black, and so I don’t lose it constantly in my black leather lounge.
3. The tactile buttons are way more precise. So many times while using Plex, the touchpad remote would misinterpret a down swipe for a side swipe. In all, my old Siri remote is lucky it didn’t get thrown out the window!I dare say Jony Ive would hate this new design, but this is a win of function over form. The new remote makes using Apple TV joyous again!darkvader said:tyler82 said:I have the Apple tv remote version before this one and absolutely hate it. Mostly the touch surface which is incredibly finicky. Those that have used both, is this one much better? It's much worse. This doesn't even give you a touch surface. The touch remote isn't ergonomic, but neither is this one. This one is a step backward.

Right to Repair advocates aren't sold on Apple's Self Service Repair program
You just can’t please some people!!Apple has released the documents detailing what to do, and you can buy or hire the tools too! However, anyone who has actually tried to repair a modern iPhone (or even a modern iMac) will know that unless you’ve been shown how to do it by someone who really knows all the tricks etc, there’s a huge chance you’ll break the screen/ screw it up/ break something during your first attempt. For the most part, probably 90% of the user base would rather give their iPhone to a repair person than go through all that hassle to then break something and have to get it repaired by a professional anyway. So what Apple has done should make it easier for the current “unauthorised” repair shops to get legitimate parts (albeit at a likely higher price) and offer you a choice of a repair using authentic parts or a repair using China knockoffs. It shouldn’t be understated, this is a seismic shift for Apple, and they should get credit where credit is due! -

Shame on your proof reading though!

Apple to significantly increase retail worker benefits in April
I worked in Apple Retail in Australia for about 6months back in 2017.I’ve always been and still am a big fan, however the working conditions (pay rate, roster) made it intolerable. Never having 2 consecutive days off, rarely having a weekend day off, minimum pay rates, and of course the famous no sales commission because “we don’t encourage sales, we encourage you to repair relationships”
The staff discounts were miserable, and quantity limited.I love The Credo, and they do live and breath that, however it lacks the “human” essence to it.Maybe I’m just not cut out for retail work. But I have new found respect for the apple retail employees !Any extras they get, I’m all for it!! -
No, Apple isn't making a paired wedding ring set to spy on a spouse
