  • Rumor: iPhone 15 USB-C cable limited to USB 2.0 speeds, has no MFi

The USB-C transfer rate, I believe, was not a part of the EU dogma. The new phone potentially has a USB-C socket and that is all that was required.

No, the USB-C standard require at least 15W for recharging but not data speed which can variable since some devices don't need much data.
That is not true. Use of the connector does not require 15w at all. A fully compliant USB-C socket can provide 500mA @5v (2.5w) or less and does not need to support data at all, whether that be USB 2.0, 3.2 or Thunderbolt. The USB C cables however should all be able to carry 3A, but I doubt many of the eBay/Amazon specials do. Anything claiming to be USB 3.1 compliant however, generally should be able to source at least 900mA @ 5v however.

  • Netflix won't be making a native Apple Vision Pro app

    'no current plans'

Seems perfectly understandable - Netflix has 200 million subscribers across the world. Vision Pro is initially going to cater to only a TINY fraction of that addressable market - US only, relatively expensive and with production restrains, making it a 500,000 unit (at best) in first-year product if the Sony rumour issues are true.

From Netflix's perspective, they have enough apps to contend with on TVs, computers and phones to maintain. Why waste engineering resources on pleasing a tiny few if it doesn't bring in additional revenue?

I suspect Netflix will, when Vision is addressing a bigger market developed a headset tier which will cost more.
That and Apple is not making any friends with their 30% commission on things like Netflix subs. Some devs like Netflix used to be honoured to work with Apple, now it's more out of necessity than desire unfortunately.

  • M3 Mac mini, 14-inch &16-inch MacBook Pro aren't coming in the fall

I don’t see the point of continuing the 13” MacBook Pro. The M series Apple Silicon chips makes the MacBook Air quite formidable. If you need more power, move up to the 14” or 16” MacBook Pro. Creatives tend to want larger screens. I just can’t imagine a use case where a 13” would be preferred over a 14” for pro users. Not to say that there isn’t a use case. I just don’t see it.
It is significantly cheaper than the 14" model. £800 in fact. I'm surprised it got the M2, I thought it would get neglected as the cheap model like the 21" Intel iMac was; which still had an HDD right up until it was replaced with the M1 iMac.

The 14" MBP is overpriced. It should be around the £1800-£1900 mark IMO, especially since the 15" MBA is only £1399 and the 13" MBP £1349. In fact £1860 is the price of the US 14" MBP, including the UK's 20% sales tax. For some reason though Apple feels the need to charge UK customers £2149 which is the equivalent of $2760. It's way overpriced.

  • Apple Shortcuts engineering manager Ari Weinstein departs Apple

Maybe now someone can make it so location based Shortcut automations can run automatically and not require I tap a “Run” button to initiate them.
Some of these "tap to run" shortcuts have be released from their shackles to run automatically in iOS 17. However Apple still feels the needs to send a notification every time, which you cannot disable. It's really annoying.

  • Apple issues Rapid Security Response update for iOS 16.4.1, macOS 13.3.1

Worked just fine on my iPhone, including a reboot. And on my Macbook too.

Interestingly it seems you can remove the update too.
