As an aside if you are the boss - read: Mr Tim - you demote a subordinate - read: John - and clear the decks and air. You don't commit Hara Kiri and fire yourself. -

How a VPN stops an ISP from throttling your online activities
I discovered quite the opposite. Having subscribed to the well-known top three I was blocked by all streaming services without exception. Every single one of them. Streaming services and other demographically protected sites have found a way to detect whether one is using a VPN and blocking you from entering. At other times I have discovered when accessing a site that is in my own permitted domain that it is slowed down to a crawl.
I would not and could not in all good conscience recommend a VPN service. Unless there is one out there that is not one of the well-known ones and does in fact permit accessing sites that are demographically protected and also when accessing sites within my domain that does not slow the speed to a crawl or has happened to me last week, wrecked my credentials on the one site. I had to go in and speak directly with the ISP to restore my profile and privileges.
