  • John Giannandrea out as Siri chief, Apple Vision Pro lead in

Is he on temporary leave or just straight up out of there? (As in completely fired)
Probably strolling the halls. Well, not exactly strolling the halls, but walking around in circles at Apple Park.

As an aside if you are the boss - read: Mr Tim - you demote a subordinate - read: John - and clear the decks and air. You don't commit Hara Kiri and fire yourself.  :D :D

  • Inside Apple Books -- the best app for book lovers

Yup. Books look great just not enough of them. The undisputed bookshelf of the world is still Amazon. Any book, any format, and every price range.

  • The EU is betraying iPhone users and weakening privacy for political gain

Indirectly they are hobbling the iPhone experience. It is a sneaky way of killing off Apple in the EU zone.

Trump, can you please impose a 30-day moratorium on the EU. Let's see how they like that?

  • How a VPN stops an ISP from throttling your online activities

I discovered quite the opposite. Having subscribed to the well-known top three I was blocked by all streaming services without exception. Every single one of them. Streaming services and other demographically protected sites have found a way to detect whether one is using a VPN and blocking you from entering. At other times I have discovered when accessing a site that is in my own permitted domain that it is slowed down to a crawl.

I would not and could not in all good conscience recommend a VPN service. Unless there is one out there that is not one of the well-known ones and does in fact permit accessing sites that are demographically protected and also when accessing sites within my domain that does not slow the speed to a crawl or has happened to me last week, wrecked my credentials on the one site. I had to go in and speak directly with the ISP to restore my profile and privileges.

  • iPhone 16e review: All the bells, none of the whistles on this battery-heavy device

I checked one out in the store. Nice heft and easy to hold. I didn't even mind the lack of a highfalutin camera. I never, hardly use it and when I do it's mostly rather basic pictures. But after all the poor and negative reviews I stuck with my 15 Pro and decided to wait for the 17 Pro. If it is lighter and slimmer than the 15 Pro I am in the market.
