M2 Mac Studio vs Mac Pro 2023 -- compared
Apple made too big a deal about M1 and how they could make everything M-serie. I think that was mainly Marketing shooting their mouths off without getting the details form engineering. Then Apple realizes Apple silicon really isn't for expandable machine, so what can we do we shot our mouths off..... wait as long as possible, put out a half ass version of the Mac Pro and when it doesn't sell we have our excuse to kill it off. The Mac Studio was the replacement for the Mac Pro but running thier mouths put them in a sticky situation. -

Excellent Newton documentary now on YouTube
Oh I'm feeling so old I remember when the Newton came out and was very interested in them and wanted one. Lucky for me money was tight at the time and like most things Apple expensive. I was getting ready to be relocated across the country for a new job with a couple others from where I worked. After the relo' one of the people took his bonus and got a Newton and developer kit so I got to checkout it out. I quickly lost interest it was way bigger than I thought it would be not that handy size of a Palm Pilot that it was supposed to be a competitor of. It did have a really interesting kind of card based app, but luckily Apple after sales of Newton were bad it ported the app to the Mac. The Newton died pretty fast and my friend now had a quite a bit of money and programming time invested in the Newton so he was really upset. One of the others we worked with at the new location had become quite a Palm Pilot programmer and was making good money on the side writing games and later on bigger app's for the Palm.
So yes I remember the Newton all too well. -
Mac Pro in danger after fumbled Apple Silicon launch
I think this is the response Apple was hoping for so they have a reason to kill off the Mac Pro. Apple SoC isn't designed to be used in a workstation type computer, workstations need expandability for RAM and specialized boards. The Mac Studio is the new Mac Pro for Apple SoC era.
I had a Mac Pro "Cheese grater" and they were great. Cheese grater's were expensive, but not so much that working people couldn't afford them like the "Trash Bin" and New Cheese grater Mac Pros. The original Cheese Grater was expandable the CPU, RAM, Storage so you could buy a base model and upgrade the components as you needed more power. The new SoC Mac Pro lost all that and only something film studios can afford and they have issues with the restriction of the PCIe slots of the new Mac Pro.
So I think Apple know with there silicon the old idea of a Mac Pro is over so just need an excuse to EOL Mac Pro. -
Thieves ditch hidden AirTag in Vancouver car jacking
Surprised it hasn't happened sooner. So Apple needs to make a Stealth AirTag designed to be hidden better in cars or other items. Maybe they need a LoJack like program that installs stealth AirTag so they are very hard to find and also transmit better in cars. What I've read AirTags in cars are hit and miss because if put in area with too much metal the signal doesn't get out
