EU DMA architect says Apple seems to want to be fined for non-compliance

"Under the DMA, there is no room for threats by gatekeepers to silence developers."
Sounds like a line in the sand.
What conflicts are you referring to?
Once passed, you either comply or you don't. If you're on the hook for something you have a voice. You will be heard.
Even right now the EU has asked Apple to explain its position. Nothing authoritarian here.
As with any new legislation, kinks will have to be ironed out. We aren't talking about some little by-law. There are plenty of intricacies that will need to be dealt with along the way.
No different to any other EU Directive.
That said, IMO, Apple's first stab at compliance has been deliberately confrontational. -

Canon: No camera can truly capture video for Apple Vision Pro
Thanks for reporting on this. I’ve been watching to see what Canon will be doing in this space, as they seem to have a strong interest in producing something for it. And it makes me wonder if the other companies see the same opportunities, and what they are working on — better yet, does Apple have plans to release a standalone camera system focused on Spatial Video? -
Meta & Microsoft are lobbying the EU to reject Apple's new App Store plans [u]
What Apple proposed seems fair and simple. If this is rejected by the EU, the alternative would be to charge for API usage — this would end up being more costly for developers, especially the ones that are complaining now. The EU could not get in the way of this or dictate costs — unless they go full on China/Russia (which they seem to be resembling more and more). -
Apple defends its controversial EU App Store plans
Apple's changes to the EU App Store are due to go live on March 7, 2024. After that date, the company can be investigated by the EU for non-compliance and, potentially, fined 10% of total worldwide turnover.——-
This makes no sense — they already know what Apple is planning on doing — why don’t they review their plans now before the deadline? Typical inefficient EU.
