  • Hands on with Apple Vision Pro in the wild

"The Apple Vision Pro defines the genre for sure — at the very-high end. This time, intentionally, they aimed too high on cost for the consumer."

There is a clue in the name. The stripped-back 'Apple Vision' will surely follow once the 'more money than sense' market has been milked.

AVP is much less expensive than other high end AR devices on the market, and it looks like it will deliver a better experience.  I think many are underestimating the high demand this product will have.  I also don’t think a “stripped back” version will ever happen.

  • Apple's valuation will fall to less than $3 trillion for the worst reasons

Nicely written article.  It is difficult to know what the reaction will be after earnings.  Many other companies are trading at much higher multiples based on future potential, and that should be no different for Apple.

  • Apple slammed with $1 billion class action lawsuit in UK over 30% App Store fee

In all fairness, it kind of is a monopoly system. We have only two choices of smart phones (iPhone or Android). So the argument that if you don't like Apple's 30% fee, you can just develop for Android (where it is effectively the same price structure), doesn't really hold up.
Of course Apple and Google should be paid to maintain developer tools, their app stores, distribution system etc. But I would argue that this could easily be done with a flat 15% fee (and still earn a ton of cash). This is driven by greed, rather than actual cost of maintaining such stores.
It is not illegal to have a monopoly.  There are also many platforms to develop for besides the mobile environment.  And how do you know what costs are to operate the App Store?  If you don’t know, how can you state that their commission is too high?  As far as I can see, every digital marketplace charges pretty much the same commission (which is much less than it was for boxed software).  So what’s the problem?

Curious to know who these 1,500 developers are.  My guess is that a majority of them haven’t even released an app.  Whatever the case, I’m guessing these developers won’t have much of a future in the App Store.

  • Meta insists it hasn't killed off its Quest Pro lineup yet

“I have to explain this every year.”  — every year?  How long has their “pro” device been out, and has anyone heard him comment on it before?

”There might be a Quest Pro 2, there might not be.  I’m not really telling you,” — real professional response, huh?

This guy sounds frustrated, or incredibly embarrassed after seeing what Apple announced.  This is someone who heads up the hardware at Meta, burning through tens of billions, had a head start on Apple by almost 10 years, and realizes that Apple will destroy their business.  It will be a slow death — less hardware sales, fewer and fewer apps, more and more billions lost until Mark pulls the plug to appease shareholders.  They will probably end up selling the hardware business to another company — the question is, who would buy it?
