  • Berlin Apple Store vandalized by Congo activists

"70 percent of Congolese live in extreme poverty and are facing starvation."

Does Apple sourcing material from this region contribute to “extreme poverty”?  If Apple and other companies stopped sourcing material from this region all together, would there be less poverty?  Would quality of life improve greatly?  Would everyone all of the sudden have more food and resources?  The answer is no for all, so the problem is obviously much deeper than companies sourcing material from this region, but none of the lunatics that deface property want to address any of this — because that would require thought.

  • Samsung's half-hearted attempt to capitalize on Apple's Crush ad misses the point

When a company produces a one-off ad to mock another company, that is just desperation and a waste of money.  It does nothing positive for your brand, so what is the point?

  • The iPad has come so incredibly far since 2010, and fulfills Steve Jobs' vision perfectly

Really incredible how far this device has come since 2010.  In terms of design, the 2018 iPad Pro nailed it — and subsequent models will continue to iterate on this.  The M4 Pro is the next big move, being thinner and lighter yet more powerful — and the new keyboard looks great.  Looking forward to getting mine.

Would Apple ever move to incorporating the camera elements into the bezel on the iPhone like it is on the iPad?  This would obviously make the bezel larger, but maybe they could shrink the camera elements more to minimize this?

  • The next Apple CEO: Who could succeed Tim Cook?

    tht said:
Gurman is rumormongering that Jeff Williams would takeover as CEO in the short term, less than 3 years, and John Termus is the likely choice for CEO if Cook retires after 3 years.

Good choices, imo. The only thing I’m reticent about is whether these successors will be bold enough and have the force of will to make that boldness pan out.
Jeff Williams seems like a nice man, but I just don’t get “bold” from him.  If you want bold, Federighi seems like the perfect choice — the man comes across as fearless.  Lots of history with Apple, working with Jobs, brilliant speaker, and young.

  • New 13-inch iPad Air will eat into iPad Pro sales

It depends somewhat on what Apple has in store for iPadOS at WWDC.  Aside from that, maybe the ratio of pro to non-pro will be similar but more 11 Air buyers will buy a 13 instead?
