  • Apple Intelligence & Private Cloud Compute are Apple's answer to generative AI

Will be really interesting to see how these web based platforms, where you are the product, address questions related to privacy.

For sure they cannot offer what Apple is doing.

Also interesting how they played down the Apple data center chips.
No they cannot, but it doesn’t matter much. Consumers have largely become very comfortable sacrificing privacy for convenience. There’s a pretty narrow subset of people for whom privacy still matters, perhaps in enterprise. The rest are happy — or oblivious —  to trade it for the next splashy thing. If you thought people were willing to give up their data to social media, just wait and see the level of detail they share with a “personal“ AI assistant.

  • The best apps for professional video editing on any iPad

LumaFusion — which is available on the Mac — has to be one of the best designed video editors for touch interface. Plus, they are committed to no subscription fees. It’s a low, flat fee to buy it and additional features are available only for those people who need them for an additional price. if you are just getting started editing video on the iPad, start there. You’ll probably never leave.

Call it a beta, and let those people who are still attached to Siri continue to use it while the beta proves itself. Then send Siri to a farm in the country with plenty of room to play…

  • Four years after launch, Apple Arcade is here to stay and will only get more powerful

Apple Arcade 2020:  "We have great games, like Sneaky Sasquatch!"
Apple Arcade 2024:  "Seriously, so many great games…like Sneaky Sasquatch."

  • Secret Service and government agencies illegally used smartphone location data

All the glib comments worry me a little.  This year alone a federal court found our government guilty of working with big social media platforms to sensor free speech, while the attorney general issued a memo to the FBI allowing parents who speak out at school board meetings to be classified as ‘domestic terrorists. Now we see a report that our government is using our technology to track us.  Aren’t we past the point for jokes?
