Yea, but no.  As any fan of the Oakland A’s can tell you, "The apostrophe is also used to form ... the plurals of the letters of the alphabet (p's and q's, three A's)."

It used to be, at every keynote, it was some poor sucker’s job to try to say "And now Siri is smarter than ever…"  This time I think Siri got maybe one mention. 

After Musk bought Twitter we learned the depths to which it has been used to promote certain certain narratives, and suppress other ideas. As someone who never used the service, I was only mildly interested in the steps he has been taking to democratize it, monetize it, and revitalize it. But what has been highly entertaining to me is watching how butthurt people have gotten over these changes. The principal came into the cafeteria and told the “cool kids“ that they don’t get to decide who sits at their table anymore.

No they cannot, but it doesn’t matter much. Consumers have largely become very comfortable sacrificing privacy for convenience. There’s a pretty narrow subset of people for whom privacy still matters, perhaps in enterprise. The rest are happy — or oblivious —  to trade it for the next splashy thing. If you thought people were willing to give up their data to social media, just wait and see the level of detail they share with a “personal“ AI assistant.

Siri’s architecture is so dated, and its reputation so bad, Apple should introduce its new assistant as a separate entity, with a new name, that operates an alongside Siri. Call it a beta, and let those people who are still attached to Siri continue to use it while the beta proves itself. Then send Siri to a farm in the country with plenty of room to play…

LumaFusion — which is available on the Mac — has to be one of the best designed video editors for touch interface. Plus, they are committed to no subscription fees. It’s a low, flat fee to buy it and additional features are available only for those people who need them for an additional price. if you are just getting started editing video on the iPad, start there. You’ll probably never leave.

Excellent article. You know you mentioned the way it used to be, but you left out another significant  cost to devs the App Store eliminated: piracy.  It wasn’t so long ago that big software companies like Adobe or Macromedia might, when pressed, say that up to 10% of their software in use was pirated. When they knew it was closer to 20% or more.  Sadly this ‘leakage’ was considered the price of doing business. But with the App Store, piracy is gone. If your app is on someone’s device, you can be sure it’s legit.

I was such a big fan of his, but it’s sad to see what he’s become. I feel like he got starred for attention during his absence and now just saying/doing anything to get in a spotlight.

The  standout physical feature of this device is that big honkin’ scroll wheel…which he never uses one time during the demo.  Instead he uses the touchscreen to scroll.
