  • Ransomware attackers are targeting US healthcare and education services

This is not new. Ransomware targeting critical systems is growing by the hour, and the growth of AI is going to make it exponentially worse. Financial, air/land/sea traffic, healthcare, and education, are tempting targets for psychopaths. Most for profit, but a subset of anarchists engages just for the thrill of destruction. When quantum computing systems become available to these actors, there are no current encryption algorithms that can't be broken. Corporate and government entities have so far been way behind cyber criminals, only reacting, rather than pre-empting to ransomware attacks. And if they don't step up and start spending the money necessary, society as we know it is in as much danger from malware as it is from climate change or the rise of tribalism and autocracy across multiple nations.

  • Lumos Ultra E-Bike smart helmet review: protecting your skull with some flashy features

Helmet design has now reached the point of diminishing returns. A helmet that uses a battery.

"That might drive some customers away, given that you're essentially signing up to pay $200 per accident. Of course, the trick here is to not get in any accidents."

As someone who has broken not one but two helmets, neither of which could have been prevented, let me state unequivocally that putting a price on the integrity of your skull and brain is nothing but misguided. I got up and rode home after this one. I paid $299 for the next one.

  • India limits iPad and Mac imports in drive to boost local manufacturing

This may be premature by India. Does the country have the capability to fulfill the demand for Apple Products with domestic manufacture? I know Apple has been moving manufacturing there from China, but I'm not sure how much is in place right now.

Trade tariffs only affect on segment: the enduser. That's you. The manufacturer passes the increase on to the distributor, who passes it on to the retailer, who passes it on to you. You wonder about the causes of inflation in the United States? Take a look at the trade tariffs placed on China during the previous administration. No, China doesn't pay them. The Chinese factory doesn't pay them. You pay them.

I exclusively use Apple Pay for 2 years now.

Best thing ever to just leave home without a wallet.
How do you pay at places that don't take Apple Pay? Like almost every gas station? Cash?
    1. You go out with at least one physical credit card for those Luddite establishments.

    2. You find a new place to purchase your gasoline.

When I was in the UK this summer visiting my family, I could pay for absolutely everything using Apple Pay with my Apple Watch, even cabbies and street vendors. And, because I have the Apple Card, I paid no foreign transaction fees. The US is so far behind and so regressive when it comes to payment systems and processing. The worst part are the sheep-like American consumers. I often stand in line at LiDL in the US (which, like any German retail outlet, definitely accepts Apple Pay) and I see people with iPhones wearing Apple Watches whipping out credit cards and punching in a PIN. How retrograde.
    1. So you don't use Apple Pay exclusively after all.

I never said I did use Apple Pay exclusively - that was the original poster who claimed that. I live in the US, so 100% Apple Pay everywhere is, sadly, still a pipe dream. I HATE giving a credit card to a waiter, and explaining how wonderfully that process is handled in Europe usually elicits vacuous stares from people.

You're preaching to the choir, brother!
