Kindle adds 'Get Book' buy button to where it always belonged
9secondkox2 said:All this legislating from the bench will hopefully be dealt with before too long. In the meantime, it’s exposing these shady organizations (who make money from other being on their stores) as extortionists, only putting in work if they don’t pay to be in someone else’s store. It’s why I no longer have an Amazon subscription nor a Spotify one. It’s a matter of principle. Doesn’t alter my lifestyle at all. I’ve always found it healthier and have met lots of good people by always avoiding the card reader at the pump and the self-checkout at various retailers. Going to the human being at the register is the way to go.Apple Books are usually presented much nicer than kindle anyway. And Apple Music has inched closer to the old iTunes simplicity that Spotify copied to begin with.

Apple TV+ isn't micromanagement hell -- for some creatives
tht said:This narrative, that Apple micromanages, sounds batshit insane. What is the media, studios and filmmakers expecting here? How is it different from anything else? I find it hard to believe that Netflix or Amazon gives film makers complete freedom.
That’s level of creative freedom (and money!) has been reined-in in more recent years. But yeah, that was what Netflix was known for in the not too distance past — at a similar-ish time when Apple was known for micromanaging creators. That’s why the first sentence in this article says: “While Apple TV+ has a reputation for micromanagement, it seems that it's not as bad as it once was.” That was what Apple was known for in the past (in contrast to Netflix at the time). -
Last quarter before Trump tariffs sees Apple beat Wall Street with $95.4 billion earnings

Apple is standing still but priced as if the company delivering massive growth. Some of that is true on the Surface, but Apple is also a vertical computer company operating system and hardware which means they are doing more than Microsoft, who like most basically software companies is just floating along the Surface helped in their case by market inertia.
Cook and his team of penny-pinchers made Apple #2 to Microsoft. That is not OK. -
Apple may revive battery case accessory for iPhone 17 Air
Anilu_777 said:It’s sad that Apple discontinued the MagSafe battery pack. I bought two when I found that out and they’re very handy. I also like the tie-in to iPhones so you can see the battery pack’s battery too. I hope they will revive it with USB-C charging.
Obviously there are MagSafe and Qi2 battery packs from third parties, but the Apple MagSafe battery pack’s reverse charging and ability to see the battery level on the battery widget and lock screen are two great features. -
iPhone 17 rumors: More speed & ProMotion screen, but no big redesign
dutchlord said:Another underwhelming iPhone like “more of the same”. Why call it iPhone 17 if it is the same as the iPhone 16? Why yearly upgrade cycles if Apple has nothing to bring to the table? Competition has more innovation to offer in almost all aspects including photography. I even don’t see a compelling reason to upgrade my iphone 14 pro max. I do most of my photography with my Xiaomi 14 ultra.
You just bought a new flagship phone sometime relative recently, so maybe it’s not super compelling from your perspective. But for those of with 3+ year old iPhone (mine will be 4 years old when iPhone 17 is released), ProMotion and 12GB would be very compelling reasons to upgrade. Assuming those rumors turn out to be true, of course.
