So it’s going to be “iOS 26” and not “iOS 25”? Going to make it less-confusing by naming it one calendar year ahead of the actual year (car model year style)? If so, that’s fine. I’ll adjust. But doing it this way is slightly more-confusing than it needs to be. Naming it based on the actual year would have been… but whatever. Just need to remember that the actual year of release is: OS Number - 1.
I hadn't picked up on that. Naming it iOS 26 in the year 2025 does seem like a misstep if Apple goes that route.
The problem Apple faces, the same problem as car manufacturers, is that the name iOS 25 is great for three months, then suddenly it sounds old and outdated for nine months until iOS 26 arrives.

It is better to be ahead for a couple of months than behind for nine. Also, iOS 26 won't be out until about a week before October, which is the beginning of the FY26. It works.
I understand the reasoning. It’s just a little funny that Apple is supposedly doing this to make it less confusing, but at the same time want to add a layer of confusion for marketing reason.

  • Trump may have added 25% iPhone tariff specifically to punish Tim Cook

Tim Apple, this is the life you choose. Did you really think your “donation” would be a one time thing? Oh, you sweet summer child. It was never enough then, it is never enough now, and it will never be enough in the future.

If Trump tells you to “Jump”, you need to reply (with tears in your eyes) “How high, sir?”.

Ask Jensen Huang for some advice. Jensen knows how the strongman-authoritarian game is played. He knows how to play the game in China. And he knows how to play the game in 2025’s America. You won’t see Jensen making such rookie mistakes. Jensen showed up with Trump on the trip and heaped tons of praise on Trump. He knows what’s up.

Just say “Siri, call Jensen”. And after Siri replies with “I found some web results…”, go into your Contacts app and call him that way.

  • Your iCloud password could be newly exposed from a giant password leak

Thank you for the heads up. I’ll be changing Apple ID password right away. Thankfully my Apple ID password is unique (as are all of my passwords).

I also use iCloud+ to generate unique emails for everything (as suggested in this article). So that also should limit any potential issues.

Edit: Done. Thank you again. Seems like I might need to change Google passwords as well. So that’ll be next. Then Microsoft after that. Then… I don’t know. What else? lol

  • Japan moves closer to requiring third-party app stores

So there will be reciprocal access to Sony and Nintendo online stores huh?
It’s a little bit different in the video game console side of things because publishers can choose to release physical discs/cartridges of their games and consumers can buy those physical discs/cartridges from third-party actual stores.

Maybe video game consoles should similarly be more open as well (there are reasonable arguments for that), but there is a viable alternative for purchasing console video games already. Not only is physical media a viable alternative, but it’s the only method I use for purchasing console video games (for those games that have an option between physical or digital).

Eventually (presumably) video game consoles will go fully to digital-only purchases (with no hardware capability to even play physical media). But that hasn’t happened yet. The upcoming Switch 2, for example, will still have a slot for actual physical cartridges.
