  • Arms race: Apple's waiting for robotics for US iPhone assembly, says Commerce Secretary

On the bright side, these could be tele-operated from your favourite coffee shop.
Who can afford to tele-work out of their favorite coffee shop when the 46% tariff rate is unpaused?

46% being the “reciprocal” tariff rate on Vietnamese goods, which includes their wonderfully-delicious coffee.

  • Arms race: Apple's waiting for robotics for US iPhone assembly, says Commerce Secretary

    Just an observation:

Tim Apple isn’t actually waiting for robotic arms to bring iPhone assembly to the United States. Saying “I need to have the robotic arms.” is a kind of diplomatic tech executive way of saying “Sure, I’ll do it… when pigs fly!!!”

Somehow Lutnick thought Cook was expressing a genuine desire. Cook has no plans at all of bringing iPhone assembly to the United States. Lutnick, you need to learn how to read between the lines.

  • iPhone 17 takes a big step towards mass production

This is not specific to this news article, but:

When I click the “Read More” link for the AppleInsider TV video “Is iPhone 16E Worth The Upgrade Instead of iPhone 16? Full Compare!” embedded in this article, it shoots me over to an Amazon listing for the “ESR for iPhone 16e Case”.

(It’s not just this article. Same thing happens when I click that same link in other articles.)

  • Plans for iPhone 17 anti-reflective & scratch proof display scrapped

Plans for an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant display on the iPhone 17 have seemingly been abandoned, according to an anonymous source.

Very light scratches at a level six, with deeper grooves at a level seven.

  • Iffy leak claims iPadOS 19 could gain macOS menu bar

Give us multiple User login accounts already. And on the iPhone too.
I’m not sure why this reply got 0 Likes and 3 Dislikes. At the risk of getting multiple dislikes as well: Yes, please. Multiple user logins would be great on iPad. If we could get just one macOS-like features on the iPad, that’s the one that I really want/need.

Why would you want to share your phone like that? In an era where your cell phone has your whole life on it that gives whoever you are sharing with access to a lot of personal data if they know your account info.
Would the parents of very young children like to answer mccargos’ question? lol

Scenario: Doctor’s office. Parent is waiting for an appointment. 4 year old child is bored out of their mind, running around and won’t be quiet.

Parent: “Stop that. Here. Take this.” *hands kid the iPhone*

Child: *quietly plays a game on parent’s iPhone*

Other patients waiting: *sighs of relief*

Not wanting to share access to everything on your device is the exact reason why people want multiple user logins.
