  • RetroArch emulator adds support for DOS games, and more

The nostalgia market must be pretty small and getting smaller.  I can't see todays teens finding these games of any interest, Unreal Engine 5 and beyond surely has their attention.  Heck, it has mine, and I played Dark Castle on an Apple ][ back in the day.

  • iPhone 16 Pro rumored to get hugely better ultra-wide sensor & optical zoom

I keep hoping for longer optical focal length lens to be added, I am very happy with the wide end as is.

  • Updated and enhanced AirTag expected in 2025

Count me in for a new set.  Amazing product.  Some of our luggage went walkabout on a flight back from Athens via Zurich not long ago, and just like all the other stories one reads, we were able to find it and report it as being in LA to the airline.

We watched it travel back to us from LA to Boston and then to Manchester, NH, not 'in-flight' but at the airports. It was returned by a driver from Manchester to our summer home in the White Mountains.  Only at that point it nearly got lost again, as the driver could not find us.  He had turned around and was on his way back to Manchester when we literally flagged him down on the Kankamaugus Highway (very rural and empty at the time) and asked if he had our luggage; the AirTag was that accurate!  It was a huge relief as the missing suitcase had all the gifts we'd bought including beautiful Greek silver jewelry.

  • Mac Pro and Mac Studio refreshes may wait till 2025

It sounds like a weird strategy not to push the M4 now it’s in their tablets. Especially when the Mac Studio still is on M2.

Personally I believe Apple is going full force on AI for their new operating systems and for this they need to get the M4 out there as quickly as possible, so they can once again show the benefits of a perfect marriage of hardware and software.
"Sure, laptops come first, but their desktops are a ‘status symbol’ to them: demonstrate what their products can do for professionals who demand high-end performance.

It’s either at WWDC or late 2024 I believe.
"Personally I believe Apple is going full force on AI for their new operating systems and for this they need to get the M4 out there as quickly as possible" => Agreed

i predict the release timeline to be the following:

WWDC 2024 - All desktop Macs transition to M4 counter parts
Fall 2024 - All MBP models transition to M4 series
Spring 2025 - MBA / iMac are the first to get the M5 (No M4)
    That sounds very plausible.
It's annoying how pundits and Wall Street think AI is limited to a version of CharGPT and the likes of Siri and seem oblivious to the massive amount of AI already in Apple products. Apple's use of the term ML rather than AI was probably a mistake in hindsight. Just try the AI behind Logic Pro's autotune; it is amazing as one tiny example.

Part of me hopes it is 2025 for the M4 Mac Studio Utra. Given that I have an M2 Ultra version, it would be impossible to justify upgrading this year, although I know I'd be severely tempted, and part of me knows I would!   Yes, I can explain it. I am retired, and it's a hobby :)
