  • McAfee unveils AI-powered tool to combat deepfake audio scams

I'd like to see McAfee step in and stop the fake McAfee spam emails first and foremost.

  • Apple Vision Pro shipments rumored to start as soon as February

I sure hope these people will like paying $3500 to be a beta tester.   If typical Apple timeline for major new devices or changes it will take two or three years to workout the bugs and make it something for the masses.
I think that is a wee bit of an over-generalization. My original HomePods ordered on day one are still simply astounding.  My M1 Mac Mini, although not as powerful as my M2 Studio Ultra, is still an amazing bit of gear  I suspect Apple will release a non-pro model for less at some point though, and of course updates.

Are there any updates on the eye prescription side of things?  I seem to recall you supplied this at the time of ordering, or am I getting mixed up?

  • Apple will pause U.S. Apple Watch sales starting December 21

Now you wonder if Apple can prove a loss of sales during the time which the product will be withdrawn. That’s going to be a chunk of chance someone won’t want to pay.  Assuming in the end they win their unusual claims. Follow the $$$ find the winners.
It is a strange move from Apple.  Is that loss a valid argument if Apple withdrew it voluntarily though?  Maybe as someone else mentioned, v10 is close, and doesn't have the same issues.

  • Apple Silicon M3 Pro competes with Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU in AI benchmark [u]

So if I understand this correctly: If I have a bunch of audio transcriptions to do on my laptop, I can either use my PC laptop with a 4090 and feed it my ENTIRE battery, and get that done very quickly indeed, making it as warm as a small sun —or I can use my Mac laptop, get it done a little bit less quickly, and still have plenty of battery life and an unscorched genital area.

    Hmmm. Tough call.
Not sure if it's true but I was just told that Nvidia card usage contributes more C02 than the US rail system.  I must go check on that.  Nope, it's not true, I should have checked first.  My bad.
