  • Angela Ahrendts, the 'non-techie' who runs Apple Retail, joined Apple on October 14, 2013

Reading through this thread I have to say I agree that the Apple Store experience has deteriorated if all you want to do is pop in and buy something.  It was my first visit since the changes had been made by Angela.

So ... here I was waiting for our local store to open, I was first there as I'd arrived too early, keen to buy an iPad as a present and I had another appointment soon thereafter.  I knew exactly what I wanted and last time I was there I was in and out in a flash.  As the doors opened I was trampled by a crowd behind me.  Inside on either side grinning staff stood chatting as only two staff members stood with iPads.  I could hear those at the head of both lines explaining issues and problems they had and the iPad holder patiently listened, several minutes passed before each time they were assigned a table to sit at.

Realizing that so far everyone ahead of me had a problem and I just wanted to buy and walk out,  I left the line and approached the staff standing at the sides to ask if I could buy an iPad?  I added I know exactly what I want.  I was spoken to like a schoolboy caught by a teacher doing wrong.  'You have to get in line!' I was sternly told.  I was shocked and tried to explain I didn't need to see anyone, I just wanted to buy an iPad.  I was now even more sternly told, 'There is a system, you must stand in line!'.

I swear I almost walked out.  I went back to the now much longer line and waited for what seemed like forever listening to people explain their issues in detail only to be told to sit at a table and wait for a designated Apple person to see them when it was their turn.  Not one person in front of me in either line ever simply stated they wanted to buy something.

Finally, I got to the front of the line I was in and said, "I just want to buy an iPad and I know exactly which one."  I waited as the person tapped away on her iPad and eventually told me which table to sit at.  I couldn't help myself, I asked if I could not simply be given the iPad I wanted and pay for it?  Again in a stern voice, I was told they had a system and I had to meet with an expert to guide me.  I had to bite my tongue and took a deep breath and sat down and waited.  An hour after I entered the store I walked out the iPad I wanted.

I would humbly suggest Apple add an Amazon Go type section where people can walk in pick up a product and leave if they know exactly what they want.

  • Facebook confirms security breach impacted 30M user accounts

I deleted my FB a year or more ago from FB settings and got the 'You have 30 days to change your mind' message.  I assumed if I did nothing after 30 days it was gone.  On a hunch, I just checked and blow me down it was still there dormant but all my info still there.  So, I deleted the account again! The same '30 days' message came up.

  • Google+ shutting down in wake of allegations of weak user data security

I've lost count of the Google services I've used, become important to me then had them close.  Enough is enough, never again. Just wait till the EU changes the laws on responsibility for posts then the shit will hit the fan.

Didn't go through that section??? Spoiler alert - Avon B7 would brag about the REAL INNOVATION that Huawei has brought to the smartphone cameras. Many people in this forum who believe that Apple is the ONLY innovator would be surprised with the results there. You are NOT one of those who believe ONLY Apple can innovate, so it may not be a surprise to you. But for the knockoff commentors in this forum, it would be a surprise that a chinese company can actually innovate and move the camera technology forward.

Why should they read it? Most Apple users don't give a fuck about Android or Windows.

I've always found it odd that Android/Google fans like to hang around Apple forums constantly braying about how good their platform is. But I've never felt the need to hang around an Android forum because, as you say, I don't actually care about Android.

It's almost as if these folk are trying to convince themselves.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree and we all know who our main such poster is on AI!  He owns no Apple products (according to his own words) but manages to post daily pointing out any negative thing he can about Apple (always with links).

Has everybody developed early onset Alzheimer's?

What is so hard about keeping track of your keys?
Or, to put another way, if you can't remember where you put your car keys, it may be best if they stay lost.
Thank you! I’ve never understood the need for this, unless it’s to find something that was just stolen, but only that will work if the thief is still less than 300 (or 150) feet away. How about being the least bit proactive: always put your keys and wallet in the same place at home/work. Put your purse in a visible place. Etc.
I don't think you are understanding how Tile works.  This from their website:  "Tile connects you to the world’s largest search party so everyone using the app within range of your lost item can update its location for you." ... and I will add, for clarification, even if your lost item is 3,000 miles away.
