I have trouble understanding why this article exists.
For me, it put the context of Samsung's loss of $5 billion into perspective when compared to Apple Park.  I also found it entertaining in a Schadenfreude sort of way. I feel guilty about that. Apple/users need strong competitors.
Apple has never had strong competitors. Apple’s ‘competition’ has always been the ‘good enough’ mentality which usually settles for mediocrity.
Right. Apple, like Tesla, Space X, Amazon and Netflix is a company that always tries to outdo itself regardless of others.  I find it truly awesome in such a pessimistic and polarized world these companies are shining beacons.

Edited due to grammatical errors entirely due to single malt.

Climate change is real. To stop further deterioration is not only USA's job with regulations to help slow down but every country and humans on earth must participate. One big problem is exploding over population and with medicine and with cure of deadly diseases, people don't die as many contributing to over population and adding to environmental impacts. Best thing is either control population or kill human race from earth. So, earth is left as beautiful as it was before human became smart to screw it up.
I applaude any company or individual that wants to improve the environment at their own expense or discomfort.
A change in policy in Washington should not dissuade do-gooders from continuing to do good - just shut up about it and do it.

I like your last sentence, but...
Who made humans the "designated survivor"?  We certainally have not been in the past, that is, if you believe in current science.
An excellent point. I always love the ones who say we're killing the planet. No, we're not. If you believe climate change is man caused, we might make it uninhabitable for humans, but we're not "killing the planet". Only human arrogance would presume that's possible.
"If you believes climate change is human caused"  Seriously?  Human arrogance and far worse, ignorance, is behind human belief that we couldn't 'kill' the planet as we know it.  A bunch of ants and cockroaches left with an almost atmosphere-less planet with Mars like temperature swings caused by humans seems pretty much like 'killing' to me even if it is a few hundred years off.  However, feel free to select another 'life ending' description if you prefer.

How great would it be if your watch could be used to monitor blood glucose levels on an ongoing basis?

The challenge, of course, is that such a function would necessarily be regulated as a medical device,
Not necessarily. You can buy a dog that can detect when your glucose is out of acceptable range and I'm pretty sure the dog is not regulated by the FDA. I think it all depends on how the feature is marketed and what claims you are making.
I'd wager the word 'regulation' used in conjunction with any Government protection agency, still standing that is,  will soon be a thing of the past.

  • 'Fruitfly' malware patched by Apple relies on 'ancient' Mac system calls

'because macOS remains a minority platform —hence a smaller target' I've been hearing this argument since MacOS in the nineties. It far from explains the 1:1.000.000 Mac/other viruses ratio.
I must travel through airports and hotels in the USA where minority usage is at an all time high.  I always see a sea of glowing Apple logos everywhere I go plus iPhones and iPads in profusion and the occasional very rare nerdy guy with a clunky, large black ugly Dell laptop hidden away looking embarrassed to be using it.  Perhaps Apple users travel more?
